Upcoming Reporting Period for 2024 Triennial Mercury-Added Product Notifications

With the end of the year quickly approaching, we want to take this opportunity to remind everyone in the regulated community that 2024 Triennial Notifications are due on or before July 1, 2025. All Notifications must be submitted via IMERC's online reporting system.

How to Renew a Triennial Notification

IMPORTANT: Many companies still have not submitted their 2018 and/or 2021 Triennial Notifications. You cannot submit your 2024 Notification until all prior submissions have been approved. If your company is among those with overdue submissions – or if you are unsure of your status – you must contact the IMERC Coordinators at your earliest convenience. Failure to comply with state requirements may result in non-notifiers being referred to the state agencies for enforcement.

Updated Guidance Materials Available

We have been working on updating the Reporting Guidance section of the IMERC website. The resources posted here - including step-by-step guides - are intended to help you stay informed about your reporting requirements and the processes you must follow to ensure you are in compliance with the mercury-added products laws of the IMERC member states.

Welcome Our New IMERC Coordinators!

Since our last issue of IMERC Alert was distributed, NEWMOA hired two new IMERC Coordinators who act as an intermediary between our member states and the regulated community. Please join us in welcoming Shaina Cohen and Karen Knaebel. Please do not hesitate to contact them with questions!

Shaina joined the NEWMOA team as a Project Manager in December 2023. In addition to acting as one of the IMERC Coordinators, she is the Hazardous Waste Program Manager. Shaina received a M.S. in Geology from Boston College in 2016. After receiving her degree, Shaina relocated to Idaho, where she conducted research at Boise State University and was one of the primary organizers of the 2017 Boise March for Science.

After 25 years of service with the Vermont Department of Conservation, Karen joined the NEWMOA team as an IMERC Coordinator in February. In her previous role, Karen reviewed and approved all alternative labeling plans for Vermont, which set the standard for the labeling of mercury-added products across the country. Additionally, she worked alongside other states to establish IMERC through NEWMOA and coordinated state efforts to implement laws.
