Our curriculum is called First Look! It's from an organization called Orange and the idea behind it is that if the home is the heart and the church is the light (yellow), when you combine those two colors you get orange.
This curriculum was designed using the most current Child Development concepts
with core Theological Truths.
All the curriculum is centered in Matthew 22:37-39:
“‘Love God with all your heart and with all your
soul and with all your mind.’ This is the first and
greatest commandment. And the second is like it:
‘Love your neighbor as yourself.’”
Preschoolers learn and experience the world through wonder,
everything is new and exciting to them. Using the concept of that wonder,
First Look teaches them through 3 core insights:
Design of God’s Creation
What I see around me reveals a
Creator who cares about me.
God Made Me!
Identity based on God’s Image
I am created in the image of God and
have unique potential and worth.
God Loves Me!
Connection because of God’s Love
I live in pursuit of an infinite God who
desires an eternal relationship with me.
God wants to be my Friend Forever!
These 3 insights are building blocks for them to learn, as they grow and mature, about deep theological concepts like Faith, Transformation, Truth, Restoration, Compassion and Community.
Some additional benefits of this Curriculum are the Family Resources for you to use at home and in partnership with the church. Those include a Parent Cue App, Monthly Scripture Memorization Cards, and a weekly Take Home piece that includes ways you can help your preschooler reflect on all that they are learning.
