Florida Bicycle Month


March is Florida Bicycle Month! The TPA hosted a Bicycle Safety Webinar on March 17 and is hosting a bicycle ride on March 21. Learn more about celebrating Florida Bicycle Month with a proclamation or hosting a bicycling event at PalmBeachTPA.org/WalkBike.

The TPA Governing Board recognized March as Florida Bicycle Month. Thank you to the local municipalities, organizations, and agencies who have also issued proclamations to celebrate Florida Bicycle Month and encourage safe bicycling.

Lyons Road Bicycle Ride


Last Friday, the TPA and Palm Beach County celebrated the new separated bicycle lanes on Lyons Rd/Sansburys Way with a morning ride. This first-of-its-kind project on a Palm Beach County roadway provides safer bicycle facilities along a road that connects schools, homes, the South Florida Fairgrounds, and Okeeheelee Park. This is a Palm Beach County project that was partially funded through the TPA.

Leadership Lantana Panel


The TPA recently hosted a transportation panel for the Leadership Lantana Class of 2025. The panel included leaders from the TPA, Palm Tran, South Florida Regional Transportation Authority (SFRTA)/Tri-Rail, and the Palm Beach County Department of Airports to learn about our county's transportation system.

Forest Hill Blvd. Road Safety Audit


TPA staff participated in a Road Safety Audit with the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) and community partners along Forest Hill Boulevard, from east of Military Trail to east of Congress Avenue. The team analyzed recent crash data, evaluated crosswalk and pavement conditions, and suggested safety enhancements along the corridor. The TPA will share FDOT findings with stakeholders once ready. 

Village of Palm Springs Walk Audit


Last week, TPA staff participated in the Palm Springs Vision Zero Task Force meeting. They performed an on-site walk audit along the intersection of Cypress Lane and Davis Road, participated in quick build project discussions, and learned about implementation strategy development. Learn more about TPA Walk Bike Safety Audit at the link below.

E-Bike and E-Scooter Safety Event


The TPA is hosting a safety event in Palm Beach Gardens on April 5 at 1:30 p.m. to promote safe e-bicycling and e-scootering. This event will focus on the shift to electric bikes and scooters, highlighting the unique safety considerations for these transportation modes. Attendees will learn about operations safety, proper maintenance, and the rules of the road to ensure a safer system for all. Register to attend at PalmBeachTPA.org/EBikeGardens.

Jack the Bike Man Bicycle Donation


REI in Palm Beach Gardens will be accepting bicycle donations on April 5 and 6 to benefit Jack the Bike Man Children’s Bicycle Charity. Drop off a bicycle, new helmets, pumps, bike racks, luggage, or other bike accessories to donate. Learn more about items to donate at JacktheBikeMan.org

Target Zero Resources: Target Zero was established in the Strategic Highway Safety Plan to provide a framework for how Florida’s communities work to achieve the national vision of zero fatalities and serious injuries.
