Our New Executive Presbyter Is Here!

Dear colleagues in ministry,

As I write this I have been in my new role just over a week. I've been part of our November Presbytery meeting, met with Presbytery staff, preached at Sierra Vista Community Church, and scheduled visits with Presbytery Committee chairs and other leaders. And in the midst of that, there was a national election. It's been a lot! Thank you so much for the generous hospitality so many of you have already extended to me through kind gifts, engaging conversations, and helpful introductions. I look forward to seeing you all at our service of Celebration and Commissioning this Sunday, November 17th, at 2:30 in the sanctuary of Faith Presbyterian Church in Sacramento. You can also reach me through my Presbytery phone line, 916-414-8105, or at karen@nccpresby.org. I'll be visiting the following congregations for worship in the coming weeks:

November 24: Esparto Countryside

December 1:  First Turlock

December 8:  Geneva Modesto

I'm looking forward to visiting many more congregations in the New Year. Please contact me to arrange a date.

Presbytery Meeting Storytelling

The Rev. Dr. Tony Stiff, Transitional Pastor at Northminster PC, shared part of his story involving his son’s health and disability experience during the November meeting. As always, these are thought-provoking moments in our meetings.

Africa House Sacramento Hosts Ubuntu Dinner Fundraiser for New Building

Africa House Sacramento hosted its third annual Ubuntu Dinner fundraiser on Oct. 19, bringing together community members, leaders, and advocates in support of an ambitious goal: owning a building to serve as a permanent “African house” in Sacramento.

“We believe it would be a site for telling the African diaspora story. Not just a place to gather, which is very important to celebrate, but to also connect with the culture in every aspect of it”, said Ernest Uwazie, chairman of the board of Africa House Sacramento.

Come Join The Conversation

You are invited to join with clergy colleagues who gather via Zoom each week (Tuesday at 1-2pm) to discuss the lectionary passages for the coming Sunday. The group shares thoughts, insights, and questions about the passages. The conversations not only offer differing perspectives, they provide a forum for support and connection.

Come be a part of the conversation!

(If you would like to know more about the group or to join, please e-mail David Ratcliff at davidratcliffu2@gmail.com. We look forward to hearing from you.)

Youth Triennium 2025

What is Youth Triennium?

A time of worship and faith formation designed by and for young people. Find out more: https://presbyterianyouthtriennium.org

Spread the news to those who will be freshmen through graduated seniors in high school in the summer of 2025 so those interested can attend with others around our presbytery!

Spread the news to wise faithful persons who relate well with young people and are 22 or older and would make a good chaperone.

Spread the news to young adults up to 23 years old who might want to be on the Work Crew.

The presbytery has funds to contribute 1/3 of the cost to attend. Generally, the family contributes 1/3 and the church the other 1/3.
