Yes, There Are Bells and Whistles!
A Visit with the MIPC Organ
|
Super 60's Program, Thursday Feb 20th at 10:30am
In Europe, the organ is a pillar of cultural history. In the US, not so much... Here's your opportunity to meet up with the actual bells and whistles (1865 of them) that comprise our beautiful organ.
| | |
During our 50-minute program, we'll hear music from four countries and 3 centuries
(including a work by Andrew Lloyd Webber's organist father), learn about the sounds characteristic to all organs, and digest a bit of the organ's long history and incredibly complicated technology. During the playing, you'll be able to:
- walk through the room and find where you think the organ sounds best
- peek behind the chancel screen and see the hidden 32-foot long pipes
- ask as many questions as you'd like
Since this will be the kick-off to the organ's 20th birthday year, we will have birthday cake. Anyone who would like can sit on the organ bench and create their own sounds.
Please RSVP to Ruth Ann, ruthannb@mipc.org

Membership Exploration Class at MIPC |
March 2, 9 & 16 (Joining MIPC on March 23)
9:30am Sundays in the Partnerships Room
MIPC has membership classes, not to be exclusive in any way, but to be able to bring people in, to help them find a deeper connection within the body, and to participate more fully with one another. If you would like to learn more about MIPC or church membership, we are planning a spring New Member Class! Please let Pastor Kristy or Ruth Ann know you are interested.

|
Our Wednesday morning study meets at 11:00am in the Fireside Room, gathering around the Gospel of John. We open the Bible together, share what comes up for us, and pick up the next week where we leave off. Contact Dan or Kristy or just come!

MIPC has launched a new program called Old Friends Club that fits within our mission to live out our faith by serving the most vulnerable populations in our community. Old Friends Club is a community-based social respite program that is a place of friendship and belonging for those living with dementia. It also provides much-needed respite, education, resources, and support for their caregivers.
This program transforms what it means to live with dementia, promoting resiliency and a fuller, more joyful life through conversation, music, art, games, exercise, and a meal.
To learn more or talk about participating in the effort, please reach out to Tanya Su, the director of the program at ofc@mipc.org.

Children & Youth Sunday School |
Sunday School for PreK-4th grade explores rotating themes reflecting different aspects of our faith, with each Sunday focusing on Service, Worship, Art, or Play. Classes are led by caring adult volunteers and meet in the Worship Center (classroom #4) in the Children's Hallway from 9:30 to 10:15 AM.
Grades 5-8 focus on service, projects, and cultivating a loving spirit toward neighbors. In late Fall, Steve J. and Jennifer M. are excited to offer the Our Whole Lives Program, OWL, this year. OWL sexuality education helps children learn and discuss the physical, emotional, and social changes of puberty. Parents and caregivers can be actively involved in the exploration of growing older, values, communication, and decision-making.
