All those affected by the California wildfires … The family and friends of Betty Auernhamer (sister-in-law to Rev. Mark Auernhamer, Emeritus; she served at St. Lorenz, Frankenmuth and taught at Our Shepherd, Birmingham 1978-1981), who passed away on December 31, 2024… Rev. John Greig (First, Algonac and District Office), who is recovering from surgery … Michael and Allison Carr (Commissioned Candidate) upon the birth of a son, Caleb Paul, on November 27. Caleb is the grandson of Paul and Jane Guse (St. Lorenz, Frankenmuth & St. Paul, Bay City) … The family and friends of Duane Wuertz (Commissioned Emeritus), who passed away on January 5. Duane is the father-in-law of Greg Johnson (St. Michael, Portage) ... The LCMS Pacific Southwest District (PSW) has shared that the most effective ways to help right now are to pray and donate. The PSW District is working with first responders from Synod office and Lutheran Church Charites to serve the congregations affected by the wildfires. The Fumarole
There is a geological phenomenon known as a fumarole, found in areas of volcanic activity. A fumarole is a vent or an opening in the earth’s surface that emits steam and volcanic gases. They can be quite dangerous, as they can emit suffocating levels of carbon dioxide, acidic sulfide, or chloride gas.
