Bethesda Missionary Baptist Church (MBC)

Crosstown is in conversation with Bethesda MBC about welcoming these new friends to meet in our building. Bethesda is a historic African-American congregation that has sold their facility. Their time at Crosstown would be for a “season” of time as they seek a new location. On Sundays, Bethesda would be in our Sanctuary from Noon - 3 pm. Our rationale for pursuing this friendship is twofold. #1, we want to advance Jesus’ kingdom. One question we can ask, “What might Jesus want to teach us through welcoming Bethesda?” #2, we’ve been pursuing a goal of $60k in outside revenue / year. This is the amount it costs to operate our building. With the welcome of Bethesda, we will have achieved this goal. Presently, our Leadership Team is reviewing a “Memorandum of Understanding” with Bethesda. We will bring an update to our October 27 Congregational Meeting.

Remembering the Life of Tom Herman

An open house remembering the life of Tom Herman will be held on Saturday, October 19 from 1-4 pm. This gathering will be held at Nokomis Square, 5015 35th Avenue South, Minneapolis, 55417. This is the building where Phyliss Herman lives.

Prior to relocating to IL, Tom served as Crosstown’s Church Chair in the 1990’s.

Pastor John & Marna’s Trip to Turkey

The Jacobi’s are spending October 7-20 in Turkey. Their adventure is a faith-based journey entitled: “A Pilgrimage of Faith in Ancient Turkey: Paul in Ephesus, John on Patmos, and the Cappadocians in Anatolia.” The group of twenty is led by Dr. Dan (retired from Bethel) & Pastor Judie Ritchie. This trip will be the inspiration for a Crosstown sermon series on Revelation in 2025!

Prayer Requests:

  • Pray for Crosstown families.
  • Pray for parents as they discern for their kids in this challenging time.
  • Pray for kids and youth as they grow.  Pray that God would draw hearts and kids would be rooted in their Imago-Dei identity.

phCheck @ Crosstown

Crosstown’s Checkup! As physicals are essential for good health, congregations need regular checkups as well. The Covenant’s pH Checkup is an online survey that provides a comprehensive health assessment of our congregation. In our next issue, you’ll be invited to participate in this adventure by responding to this inventory. Let’s partner together as we seek to discern the next steps that the Holy Spirit has for Crosstown!
