New WCB Deal

361 words / 1.5 min read

Doctors Manitoba has entered into a new agreement with the Workers Compensation Board (WCB), with improvements for family physicians who monitor and treat workers’ recoveries, as well as surgeons, anesthetists, and physicians who assist with surgery.

While the rates for most clinical services are set by the Manitoba Physician’s Manual, certain reporting and administration fees for WCB cases are negotiated separately. The last WCB agreement expired in 2021, with rates unchanged since then.

Help Us Fight Medical Misinformation

345 words / 1.5 min read

New research commissioned by the CMA finds that one third of Canadians turn to the Internet for health information due to the doctor shortage. They also found nearly 80% of Canadians are highly or moderately susceptible to believing misinformation. The good news: doctors continue to be the most trusted when it comes to health care and providing quality health information.

Doctors Manitoba is working to counter misinformation by growing our Getting Healthy public resource, sharing trustworthy evidence-backed medical tips and advice. We are looking for physicians to contribute trustworthy expert online content.

New Winnipeg Medical Districts

All physicians in Winnipeg will see their Doctors Manitoba Medical District change this year, following by-law changes approved by members in 2023. Members should have received a notice by email earlier this week, and have until February 10, 2025, if they want to change to a different district.

WHY IT MATTERS: The Medical Districts are important because members choose a colleague to represent them on the Doctors Manitoba Board of Directors. Winnipeg districts are changing this year, following updates to rural and northern districts last year.

📩 If you did not receive the email, or would like to make a change, contact us at membership@doctorsmanitoba.ca
