Year-Round Breast Cancer Awareness

While October is well-known for raising awareness about breast cancer, it's important to prioritize breast cancer screenings throughout the year. With over 2 million women diagnosed worldwide each year and a 1 in 8 chance for U.S. women to develop breast cancer in their lifetime, early detection is key. At Kenosha Community Health Center (KCHC) and Pillar Health, we are committed to supporting breast health by offering ongoing support and referrals for screenings all year.

“Dr. Connell and staff are very friendly and caring. He does great work! All my life I hated going to the dentist, but not anymore. Try him, you'll be glad you did.”

Seal-A-Smile Program to Kickoff at Kenosha County Schools

Kenosha County continues to take significant steps forward in children’s oral health, thanks to the collective efforts of Kenosha Community Health Center (KCHC) and the Children’s Health Alliance of Wisconsin (CHAW). This alliance marks the start of the Seal-A-Smile program in 25 Kenosha Unified School District and Kenosha County Schools for the academic year 2024-2025.

The Importance of Health Literacy

Chronic diseases, like heart disease and cancer, cause over 40% of deaths in Wisconsin each year. Many adults (34%) are obese, which raises the risk of diabetes, high blood pressure, and heart problems. Health issues are also higher among African American and Native American groups, who face more cases of heart disease, diabetes, and infant deaths.

At Pillar Health and KCHC, we offer services like primary care, mental health support, and disease management to help reduce these problems and improve the health of everyone in our community.

In the Community

On October 15th, Pillar Health conducted Lead Screenings at Chavez Learning Station Head Start KUSD for 28 children!

This important screening ensures the safety and well-being of our little ones and wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible teamwork of Kenosha Unified School District, KUSD Family Advocates, and Kenosha County Public Health School Nurses.

Thank you to everyone involved for making a difference in our community!
