FloridaWest Economic Development Alliance proudly announces that Algaplast Corp. is establishing its first U.S.-based operations in Century.

This project, part of the Grupo GA230 family of companies from Brazil, will bring 25 new manufacturing and technical jobs to the area over the next three to five years. Photos and more in link below.

As I approach my two-month mark as CEO of FloridaWest Economic Development Alliance, I am energized by the momentum building within our organization and across the region. We are entering an exciting phase, one that brings fresh opportunities, strategic partnerships, and an evolving vision for the future. And yes—I may have accidentally brought a little snow to Northwest Florida!

One of our key milestones this month is the announcement of Algaplast’s expansion in the Town of Century. This nearly $2 million investment will create 25 new jobs, strengthening our manufacturing presence in the northern part of the County. We are also thrilled to welcome Foiling Week later this month, an event that will bring hundreds of business leaders from the foil sailing and boating industries to our shores. Assisting our allies at Sail Pensacola, Visit Pensacola, and the City, we are determined to position our community as the center of excellence for foiling technology in the U.S.

Beyond these milestones, FloridaWest is looking ahead to expand our capabilities to better serve existing industries and aggressively recruit businesses across emerging industry clusters. The future is bright, and I look forward to demonstrating FloridaWest’s ability to ensure Escambia County is the place of choice to do business. Let’s keep the momentum going!!
