FORE the Good - Charlotte Chapter Gives Back

Your 2023-2024 Board has put an emphasis on Community and as a part of this intention, we will be giving back to the Community. As a part of our 2024 events we've raised a sum of money we would like to give to a cause near and dear to our Chapter's hearts.

The Board has elected to donate half of this year's proceeds to First Tee and the second half to Second Harvest Food Bank.

Thank you all for your generous donations and support this year!

MEET A MEMBER!

We have a lot of new faces, so I wanted to highlight some of our more familiar faces and elevate some of our wonderful members! It only fits that we start off with a QUEEN - our Birdie Queen to be exact. Judy Hillhouse is our current reigning Birdie Queen and one of our wonderful volunteers for the Chapter. She oversees handicapping for the Chapter and historically ran a Monday Night League at Tradition. We asked her a few fun questions to get to know her better:

  • How long have you been playing? Since I was about 30 years old.
  • What got you interested in golf? I wanted an outdoor activity that didn't require any running! (Plus my parents both played).
  • What type of golfer (competitive, leisure, other) would you say you are? I am competitive, but I enjoy playing with all levels.
  • Favorite Course in Charlotte Metro? I live near Tradition, and played it quite a bit.
  • Favorite Course in the World? I don't have one, but I'd love to play Shadow Creek in Las Vegas someday.
  • What is your lowest score? I shot par (72) at the Divide and at Tradition in Charlotte.
  • Do you have a favorite golf memory? Playing with my friends at many different courses.
  • What is your favorite thing about being a female golfer? Hitting a solid drive down the middle when men are watching!
  • How long have you lived in the Charlotte Metro? I moved here in 2005.
  • Favorite snack to bring or eat on the course while playing? Uncrustables.
  • What is your favorite thing about being an LPGA Charlotte member? It's a great way to meet other golfers and have regular tee times.
  • Favorite golf brand? Titleist balls, Footjoy shoes.
  • Favorite/least favorite club? My favorites are my driver and 8 iron, I normally hit the both well. My least favorite is my sand wedge...especially when I have the shanks.
  • What is the most obscure or unique thing in or on your golf bag? My fairway woods are hybrid woods...no one else I've played with have them.
  • What would be a big golf dream (location, score, playing partner) of yours? I would like to play Shadow Creek in Las Vegas, but since I'm never going to be an MGM high roller, I'd like to be invited by Danielle Kang (I hear she plays there a bit). I'd be happy with shooting in the 90s from the forward tees!
