Historical Marker Unveiled at Main Street Park
This past weekend, the Town of Rolesville and the Wake County Community Remembrance Coalition, in partnership with the Equal Justice Initiative, unveiled a historical marker dedicated to George Taylor, an African American man who was lynched two miles southeast of Rolesville on November 5, 1918.
Over 100 people, including about 25 descendants of Taylor, attended the ceremony held at Main Street Park on September 7, 2024.
The Wake County Community Remembrance Coalition began to work on making this historical marker happen back in 2017. To read more about the work done by the Wake County Community Remembrance Coalition, visit their website at waketruth.org.

Compromised Waterline Causes Construction Delays at Main & Young Street Intersection
Construction crews at the Main and Young Street intersection have encountered a compromised waterline under the road surface in the construction zone. The Town is currently working with the City of Raleigh to remedy the issue. As a result and in order to maintain the health, safety, and continued service of residents and businesses, construction work at the intersection is experiencing delays.
Residents and businesses will not experience any loss of service. If this changes, those impacted will be informed immediately.
All businesses at the intersection remain open, and free public parking is available. Learn more about those businesses HERE.
The Main Street Project is a $23 million investment in the future of Rolesville’s downtown, creating a safer, walkable, more successful, and more attractive Main Street for residents, businesses, and visitors. Please bear with us and continue to support our local businesses.
