Head of School Notes

Ms. Martha Carver

We are excited as we gear up for the World Peace Game starting February 17. The Upper Elementary and Middle School students will spend Monday - Thursday that week working together to solve world crisis scenarios.  On that Thursday morning, the climax of the game will be when all students solve all of the world crises and increase the net asset value of every country to win the game. The students will be guided by myself as a facilitator, giving them tools and information such as a comprehensive dossier along with other important documents so they can independently make decisions to solve these world problems. If you are curious to see more, you are more than welcome to come observe a bit or even see the impressive set up without the game in progress.  We look forward to working with our students on this exciting learning opportunity!

Middle School Play

You are Invited to the Literati Awards!

Please see the invitation below, written by our middle school students, for their production tomorrow night of a hilarious play featuring famous literary characters!

Middle School Play Performance, “Literati Awards”

Thursday, February 13, 6:00 PM

Rock Prairie Montessori School

Our Middle School class has worked really hard to put together a production. We created costumes, scenes, and props for our play and we are ready to perform. This show is based around book characters and you are encouraged to dress up as your favorite literary character when you come. Our family show is on Thursday, February 13 at 6 pm and will last around 45 minutes. We hope you and your kids will come and enjoy the performance!

Enrollment for Fall Has Begun!

Emails were sent out last week to families through our Tads/Community Brands system, giving parents instructions on how to re-enroll for the Fall.

  • For students who were enrolled as of December 1, no new application is necessary; parents will receive an email with instructions to complete enrollment for the Fall (or you can go into your TADS account directly and complete this step for the new year). Until this step (completing enrollment) is done, the spot is not guaranteed for your child; outside enrollments will begin to be accepted as of February 17.
  • For students enrolled after December 1, you will need to send in an application to be accepted and then will be invited to complete enrollment.

Community Coffee

Please join us for a community coffee gathering on Wednesday, February 19, right after drop-off. Make yourself a cup of coffee in our vestibule gathering space and talk with other parents and guardians in the school library by the gym. No presentation - just connection and conversation!

Coming Soon - tea and hot cocoa station in vestibule!

Tax Statements Online!

Families can access their tax statements directly from their TADS billing accounts.

To view/print your tax statement for 2024, please log in to your TADS account, and you’ll find the tax statement report option under the Billing tab.

Not all of the transactions on your statement will qualify as tax deductible. To ensure proper reporting, please review this with your tax professional. If you have any questions or need help, please contact Melissa (mbadger@rockprairiemontessori.com).

While you may have known that Toddler and Children’s House payments can be deducted for daycare purposes on your taxes, did you know you can deduct K-12 tuition as well? State law allows Wisconsin parents to deduct private school tuition on their taxes. Under the program, parents statewide can deduct up to $4,000 per student in grades K-8, and up to $10,000 per high school student. More information on this program is available at: https://www.revenue.wi.gov/Pages/faqs/ise-privscht.aspx#privscht1.

Bids 4 Kids Annual Silent Auction Event

Saturday, April 26, 2025

6:00-10:00 p.m.

Bids 4 Kids is our annual silent auction event for the adults of Rock Prairie extended community.  After all, why should kids have all the fun?  This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and includes games, food and prizes!

This year’s event features a pirate theme, so feel free to dress up like a pirate to take advantage of the occasion as we will have a selfie station with props, Ye Olde Tavern, and various pirate activities.  Secure your babysitter now so you don’t miss out a swashbucklin’ good time!  Join us at the school for a chance to bid on silent auction items, win raffles, and play games.  Food and Admission is free, though you will want to bring some doubloons (cash) for the raffles and cash bar.  Silent auction can be paid via credit card, check, cash or even via your Tads account!

Meanwhile, if you have a fun auction basket or certificate to donate, those count toward volunteer hours, too.  Have a business that you think may want to donate?  We will have letters and forms you can use out in the vestibule as well as the event section of our website.  Donations are tax-deductible!

We are also collecting bottles of wine for the wine pull station at the event - those can be dropped off with Ms. Amber or Ms. Melissa.    Finally, we  will be recruiting volunteers for our crew for decorating, one-hours shifts at the party, and for after event clean-up, and will send those out in a later newsletter.  Stay tuned!

Family Service Hours

RPMS families are asked to contribute 10 service hours before the end of the school year. Virtual and in-person parent meetings, parent education events, and conferences are included in these hours; double attendance means double the hours! Always refer to the Weekly Update for service hour opportunities; though some opportunities will be emailed out separately. Families are asked to log their service hours online at: https://bit.ly/RPMShours Any unfulfilled hours will be invoiced at $10/hour in June.

Some ideas for fulfillilng hours:

  • Donate an auction basket or raffle item to the April Bids 4 Kids event.
  • Volunteer for an hour or two for set-up, during, or cleanup of Bids 4 Kids.
  • Put library books away.
  • Contribute to conference food for staff or classroom donations.
  • Spring yardwork (weeding, etc).

Look for emails and our newsletter for various opportunities as they are advertised. Don't forget to log conferences and observations (rounding up to nearest 1/2 hour) that are coming up in the New Year!

Besides RaiseRight (formerly Scrip),

we collect the following items to turn in for funds.
