PGA OF BC PARTNER SPOTLIGHT

FRESH GOLF SOLUTIONS

Fresh Golf Recruitment Solutions continues to find placements from coast to coast but in particular, we have helped many BC facilities in finding their leaders. We attempt to stay engaged with the golf industry professionals by sending out a weekly email which includes all available jobs in the Canadian Club and Golf Industry.  If you would like to be added to these emails, click here.  In addition, they assist candidates’ growth by offering to assist in resume review at no cost.

Fresh Golf is a search firm that specializes in finding leaders in the Golf & Club world. Since early 2022, Fresh Golf has found candidates for Head Professionals, General Managers, Superintendents, Marketing & Communication, Sales, Chefs, C.O.O.’s and Executive Directors. To separate itself from other search firms – besides pricing that all Clubs can afford – the advisory and search team is the most connected team in the industry because they are still active members of the golf world. If your facility needs help finding a leader in the future or you want to know what you need to be ready for your next job search, please go to www.freshgolf.ca or contact founder and lead recruiter Scott Kolb at scott@vbgolf.ca.

KEVIN STINSON WINS PGA HEAD PROFESSIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP OF CANADA PRESENTED BY CALLAWAY GOLF BY 13 STROKES

By: Brendan Stasiewich, PGA of Canada

Sometimes, placing in second is heartbreaking. A tournament can come down to one single shot, or one single mental mistake.

Sometimes, though, like this week for example at the PGA Head Professional Championship of Canada presented by Callaway Golf and supported by G&G Brands, nobody was left thinking that.

Sometimes, a player gets on such a heater, no other player can even think about 13 strokes they could have shaved off.

After rounds of 67 and 68 at Mission Inn Resort in Howey-In-The-Hills, Florida, Kevin Stinson closed with a final-round 66, the low round of the tournament, for a commanding victory.

“It was a great week,” said Stinson, who made five birdies and an eagle on Thursday. “It was my first time playing golf in Florida and it was cool to be out here playing on different grass than we’re used to. I got to play with some great guys and great players out here, too.”

With the victory, Stinson becomes the only player in history to win the PGA Head Professional Championship of Canada, the PGA Championship of Canada and the PGA Assistants’ Championship of Canada.

“This course is challenging, I just wanted to hang in there on the front nine because it’s demanding. I shot even on the front and, on the back, with the way the wind was going, it was a bit easier, and I had a hot finish.”

“The guys I was playing with had a bit of a tough start so that gave me a bit of breathing room and I played some good golf coming in,” said the Cheam Mountain Head Teaching Pro.

In 2023, the PGA of Canada won the Four Nations Cup in South Africa – and now it is our turn to host in 2025, with venue TBD.

Stinson, who was a member of the winning team in 2023, will receive an invite to the 2025 event alongside the winner of the 2024 Assistants’ Championship and next year’s PGA Champion of Canada. They will be joined by the top player on the PGA of Canada Player Rankings presented by ECCO Golf.

CALL FOR PGA OF BC BOARD OF DIRECTORS CANDIDATES TO OPEN IN JANUARY

The PGA of BC Board of Directors looks forward to inviting qualified members interested in serving on the Board of Directors to submit their names to run in next month's upcoming election for open positions. The call for nominations will officially open in early January.

All candidates must be Class "A" Professionals who are members in good standing with the PGA of Canada to be eligible to run in the election.

Click here for a detailed breakdown of potential candidates' requirements, expectations, qualifications and benefits.

Candidates will be asked to submit a brief biography and write-up detailing why they feel they are most qualified for a position on the PGA of BC Board of Directors. Submissions may not exceed 200 words and may not include any supplementary documents or files -- these are firm requirements that will be strictly enforced.

Candidates' submissions will be made available online to voting members on the election ballot itself. Please note that each candidate's Professional Development Program point total and ranking in the PDP Points Race will be included with their personal info on the ballot.

Once a list of candidates has been compiled, the membership will have an opportunity to vote in the online election. The voting period will run from January 19-25, 2025. Due to regional quota considerations, the Interior candidate receiving the most votes, regardless of overall position, will automatically earn a two-year term to fulfill the required quota. The remaining two-year term positions will be awarded accordingly to those candidates otherwise receiving the highest vote totals.

Should you have any questions, please reach out to the PGA of BC Office Team at info@pgabc.org.
