Sobering Report on Doctor Shortage

567 words / 3 min read

Health Canada released a report this week looking at the shortage of health care professionals and examining current levels of training. The findings of the report are a wake-up call to provincial and federal governments.

WHY IT MATTERS: The report confirms a significant shortage, or gap, in physicians and other health professionals. After examining current training levels, the authors conclude that ā€œif no action is taken, [it] will worsen over ten years.ā€

The report also backs up our advocacy to address the shortage and support physicians in expanding their capacity to care for Manitobans.
