4th Annual Celebration of the Holidays

The Fourth Annual Celebration of the Holidays at Kings Point on December 9th was a dazzling success, raising $25,129 for foster children at A Kid’s Place. The highlight of the evening was the raffle, which featured over 100 incredible prizes, including a $1,000 Amazon gift card, VIP Tampa Bay Lightning tickets, Apple iPads, Smart TVs, and grand prizes like a $1,700 Gasparilla Inn Weekend Getaway and a $1,000 Royal Caribbean Gift Certificate. The excitement and generosity of attendees made this event truly unforgettable.

A heartfelt thank you goes to the residents, sponsors, contractors, vendors, and volunteers whose support and kindness brought this magical evening to life. Your contributions not only created a memorable holiday celebration but also made a meaningful difference in the lives of foster children in our community. Please join us for the "big check" presentation to A Kid’s Place at the Master Association Board Meeting on January 8 at 9:30 a.m. in the theater of the North Clubhouse. More details about this wonderful event will be featured in the January edition of The News of Kings Point.

4th Annual Tree Lighting

The 2024 holiday season at Kings Point kicked off with the Fourth Annual Tree Lighting event, hosted by the Master Association on November 29th at Charles Hassell Park. Despite chilly weather and light rain, over 300 enthusiastic attendees gathered to celebrate the season with holiday cheer. The park was aglow with luminaries provided by the Lawn Bowling Club, and festive music from the KP Music Makers set the tone. Santa Claus, portrayed by SCC Emergency Squad Chief Mike Bardell, made a memorable arrival in an elf-driven sleigh, delighting all ages.

Highlights included a tree lighting ceremony with special guest speaker Michael Owen, newly elected state representative, who led the countdown to the grand illumination, and a festive attire contest showcasing creative holiday spirit. Delicious treats from two food trucks added to the cozy atmosphere, while the unveiling of Kings Point’s entrance holiday lights extended the celebration. A heartfelt thank you goes out to everyone who helped make this event a success. More details about the event will be featured in the January edition of The News of Kings Point.

Thank You to Our Sponsors

We extend our deepest gratitude to the Master Association contractors and vendors, Federation contractors, FirstService vendors, and local businesses who generously contributed to our charity raffle and holiday events. Your support gave Kings Point residents an incredible experience and helped us raise over $25,000 for A Kid’s Place. None of this would have been possible without your generosity.

Thank You to Our Volunteers

We want to extend our heartfelt gratitude to the amazing Master Association Event Committee for their tireless hard work in preparing for the Angel Tree, Tree Lighting Ceremony, and Celebration of the Holidays charity event.

A special thank you to the committee members who went above and beyond:

Barbara Streeter, Angela Maze, Peg Seropian, Eileen Torricelli, and Jonathon Levino

Your dedication to pounding the pavement to gather donations from local businesses, coordinating contributions from the Master Association and FirstService vendors, assembling the baskets, decorating the raffle room, managing administrative tasks, and shopping was nothing short of remarkable. You also went the extra mile to procure entertainment and inspire others to volunteer and pitch in—truly embodying the spirit of teamwork and community.

See the list below to recognize all the other wonderful organizations and volunteers who helped make these events a tremendous success. Your support and contributions brought the holiday spirit to life!

The Master Association will be Closed Tuesday & Wednesday December 24th & 25th, for the Christmas Holiday. We will reopen on Thursday December 26th at 8am.

Volunteer of the Month for December

This December, we are proud to recognize Les Raba as Kings Point’s Volunteer of the Month. Les’s extraordinary contributions to our community are rooted in a lifetime of resilience, dedication, and service.

A Bronze Star Vet and self-made man, Les fled his homeland of Budapest, Hungary, at just 15 years old during the 1956 Hungarian Communist Revolution. After escaping to Austria, he legally immigrated to the US a year later, where he supported himself by working while attending night school.

During Kings Point’s development, Les worked for WCI, contributing significantly to the community’s infrastructure. As part of WCI he was involved in the planning and construction of new associations. His professional expertise continues to benefit Kings Point today, particularly through his instrumental role in helping the Master Association GIS map the community’s stormwater system, showing where all pipes flow and discharge.

Les has also been an active leader in the Manchester-II, serving six years on its board and managing landscaping, irrigation, and buildings. Additionally, he served for six years as a Master Association Director, focusing on infrastructure, roads, and irrigation.

Beyond his technical contributions, Les’s creativity and community spirit shine through in the holiday woodwork displays he crafts for the gazebo and other decorations. Twice a winner of the Sun City Center golf cart parade for his decorated cart, Les brings joy and festivity to our community.

Les’ dedication, expertise, and passion make Les a truly deserving Volunteer of the Month. Thank you, Les, for your invaluable service and for making Kings Point a better place for all!
