The Tuesday Lectionary Group invites you to share some of your favorite scriptures, which we will then share with all members.
Habakkuk 2:18-20 Of what value is an idol, when a potter carves it, or a cast image that has been shaped? It is a teacher if lies, for the potter trusts the pottery, though it is incapable of speaking. Doom to the one saying to the tree, “Wake up!” or “Get up!” to the silent stone. Does it teach? Look, it is overlaid with gold and silver, but there is no breath within it. But the Lord is in his holy temple. Let all the earth be silent before him.
James 1:16-21 Don't be misled, my dear brothers and sisters. Every good gift, every perfect gift, comes from above. These gifts come down from the Father, the creator of the heavenly lights, in whose character there is no change at all. He chose to give us birth by his true word, and here is the result: we are like the first crop from the harvest of everything he created. Know this, my dear brothers and sisters: everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to grow angry. This is because an angry person doesn't produce God's righteousness. Therefore, with humility, set aside all moral filth and the growth of wickedness, and welcome the word planted deep inside you—the very word that is able to save you.
Psalm 139:7-12 Where could I go to get away from your spirit? Where could I go to escape your presence? If I went up to heaven, you would be there. If I went down to the grave, you would be there too! If I could fly on the wings of dawn, stopping to rest only on the far side of the ocean—even there your hand would guide me; even there your strong hand would hold me tight! If I said, “The darkness will definitely hide me; the light will become night around me,” even then the darkness isn't too dark for you!
Nighttime would shine bright as day, because darkness is the same as light to you!
Luke 17: 1-5 Jesus said to his disciples, “Things that cause people to trip and fall into sin must happen, but how terrible it is for the person through whom they happen. It would be better for them to be thrown into a lake with a large millstone hung around their neck than to cause one of these little ones to trip and fall into sin. Watch yourselves! If your brother or sister sins, warn them to stop. If they change their hearts and lives, forgive them. Even if someone sins against you seven times in one day and returns to you seven times and says, 'I am changing my ways,' you must forgive that person.” The apostles said to the Lord, “Increase our faith!” The Lord replied, “If you had faith the size of a mustard seed, you could say to this
mulberry tree, 'Be uprooted and planted in the sea,' and it would obey you...”
