Pony Power Therapies

Therapeutic Horseback Riding and

Horse-Assisted Learning

Registration is now open for Pony Power’s winter programs: therapeutic horseback riding and horse-assisted learning. Programs run for six weeks in January and February on our beautiful farm in Mahwah, NJ.

Pony Power’s programs are open to those who need more support or different options than traditional equestrian centers or farms offer. We welcome participants with a wide variety of disabilities, diagnoses and conditions, including:

Autism spectrum disorder

Genetic syndromes

ADHD

Learning differences

Cerebral palsy

Anxiety

Therapeutic horseback riding (for ages 2.5 and up) focuses on basic horseback riding skills. Every participant is paired with a professional instructor, two trained volunteers and a horse that best suits their needs. Horse-assisted learning (for ages 6 and up) is a non-riding program for participants to learn how to handle, groom and move around a horse safely. Participants work one-on-one with a professional instructor and the same horse or different horses each week, depending on their goals.

Pony Power's mission is to connect people with disabilities or life challenges to the wonders of horses, farming and nature.

“Pony power is such a magical place. From the kindness of the instructors and volunteers, to the patience, creativity, and warmth shared with students.”

— Ashley, participant parent
