Know Before You Throw - New Waste Sorting Tool

The tool is under Current Projects - Waste Minimization - Waste and Recycling or you can find it on our homepage under Sustainability Toolkit.

Chilling Up ULT Freezers Webpage

Our office has created a new web page under Campus Initiatives and then under Green Labs about chilling up ULT freezers. It recommends that labs chill up their freezer temperatures from -80°C to -70°C which can reduce energy consumption by 30% and prolongs the life of the freezer. There also was a recent Elm story advocating for the temperatures of ULT freezers to be adjusted.

Survey on Vehicular Accident Hot Spots in Baltimore

Traffic safety and reaching climate goals are intrinsically related - feeling safe is a huge barrier for people walking, biking, or scooting instead of driving. The Baltimore City Department of Transportation (BCDOT) recently publicly launched the Vision Zero Action Plan project, which is an effort to create strategies and recommendations for projects that will reduce and ultimately eliminate traffic-related deaths and serious injuries. They are seeking input through a “Near-Miss” survey, which allows people to let them know incidents in which they almost got into a serious crash on our streets as part of the Vision Zero Action Plan project.
