Christ Church Cathedral serves the entire Episcopal Church in Connecticut community for the good of the whole. It is the seat of the Diocese and the seat of the bishops. It is our diocesan spiritual home. Our Cathedral has an active, diverse, multicultural, affirming, and multilingual congregation, which hosts five weekly services, including a service of the church without walls at Bushnell Park, Church by the Pond. Cathedral leaders wish to remind all Episcopalians in CT that by virtue of their membership in a parish, they are members of our Cathedral. All are welcome at any time, and they are particularly invited to these events.

Cathedral Announcements

Some of The Bushnell's touring productions have been interested in helping them make tickets more accessible to underserved Hartford residents: diverse youth, families, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. They wanted to extend these offers to our Cathedral community as they come up. Sometimes, producers offer free tickets; sometimes, they offer deeply discounted tickets. We will let people know about these special offers via our enews. If you would like more information, please contact Gregory at gregory@cccathedral.org

CHURCH BY THE POND

By Nancy Jacobs, Lay Leader

January 11, 2025

After many days of cold, gusty winds, Bushnell Park was calm today. A red tailed hawk has appeared to watch over quiet Lily Pond.

Near the carousel, Church by the Pond gathered as we begin the season of Epiphany.

Our celebrant today was Rev. Taylor Albright. Father Taylor led us in prayer and provided a reflection on both readings since both focused on baptism. As he pointed out, our baptism, like Jesus's baptism, is tied to our identity. We become part of a much larger family with this sacrament.

Today's prayers were shared as we prayed for those in the path of the deadly fires in California. We gave thanks for the life and good works of President Jimmy Carter. We celebrated the January birthday of our friend John Scott. Holy Communion was celebrated and shared with twenty congregants.

Trinity Episcopal Church, Tariffville provided lunches and warm hats for the eighteen guests after the service.
