Celebrating 50 years of paratransit in The First State | |
As reported by WDEL, "A vital service for many Delawareans is celebrating 50 years. The first paratransit trip under what was then the Delaware Administration for Specialized Transportation took place in December 1974. Now, under Delaware Transit Corporation, nearly 300 vehicles provide more than 74,000 monthly rides." | |

Delaware Office of Highway Safety introduces the Drive Safe Seniors initiative | |
As reported by Delaware Public Media, "The Delaware Office of Highway Safety is encouraging residents to make safe driving decisions for seniors. OHS rolled out the Drive Safe Seniors initiative that was focused on motivating drivers 65 and over and their loved ones to come together to prevent crashes." | |

Public gets first glimpse of plans for new nature center in White Clay Creek State Park | |
As reported in the Newark Post, "A $9 million project to build a new nature center at White Clay Creek State Park will expand the park's abilities to host educational classes and public events. Delaware State Parks unveiled drawings of the new building during a public meeting. Officials will finalize the designs next year, with construction expected to begin in late fall 2025."

Updated EPA’s AirNow Mobile Device App Allows Public to Receive Air Quality Forecasts via Push Notification | |
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced an update to the AirNow mobile app to allow users to receive optional push notifications of their local Air Quality Index forecasts for the next day. Until now, AirNow users had to remember to check the app or website to see their forecasts; with the updates to the AirNow mobile app, people can opt to be notified when the daily forecast reaches an AQI category of their choosing. | |

Lowest-income households face highest transportation cost burden | |
As reported by SmartCitiesDive, "The lowest-income households in the U.S. spent more of their pre-tax income on all forms of transportation in 2023 than any other income group, according to data released December 6th by the U.S. Department of Transportation’s Bureau of Transportation Statistics." | |

Why traffic never gets better | |
As reported by Greater Greater Washington, "The Fundamental Law of Traffic Congestion states that roads will always remain congested due to the phenomenon of induced demand. Induced demand is caused by people driving more, additional truck traffic, additional migration, and people switching onto the widened road." | |
