In the wake of the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene, the Charlotte County Community Organizations Active in Disaster (COAD) has launched a disaster recovery donation campaign to provide immediate relief and long-term support to affected individuals and families across the county.

As Charlotte County begins the process of recovery, COAD, in collaboration with local organizations and emergency response teams, is calling on the community and supporters nationwide to contribute to the relief efforts. The funds raised will be used to provide essential services, including shelter, food, medical assistance, and housing repairs for those hardest hit by the storm.

If you have purchased a table or multiple tickets for our lunch, please notify all parties of the date change. All other details for our lunch remain the same.  Our 99th Annual Awards Lunch will be from 11:30 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. on Tuesday, October 1, 2024 at the Charlotte Harbor Event & Conference Center.

A woman goes to the local newspaper office to see that the obituary for her recently deceased husband is published. The obit editor informs her that there is a charge of 50 cents per word. She pauses, reflects, and then she says, well then, let it read: "Fred Brown died."

Amused at the woman's thrift, the editor tells her that there is a seven word minimum for all obituaries.

She thinks it over and in a few seconds says, "In that case, let it read, 'Fred Brown died. Golf clubs for sale.'"
