Crosstown Connection-December 19-Jan 9

Christmas Eve @ Crosstown

Celebrate the AWESOMENESS of Emmanuel as we gather @ 4 pm for Candlelight Worship! You don’t want to miss this holy and sacred night as we are encountered by God’s greatest gift–Jesus Christ!! Our worship will reach its epic height when we pass the light of Jesus to one another. Despite all the hardship in our world and lives, Jesus Christ is the light that NO ONE CAN EXTINGUISH!!!

Living Nativity

What a wonderful celebration of Christmas! The building was bursting with joy and energy from 180 people, 6 animals, 3 farmers, 8 story characters, 3 members of the Holy Family, 1 translator…and a partridge in a pear tree! Living Nativity captures Crosstown at its finest. Gathering around the Light of the world, with neighbors, coffee and joyful community!

Merry Christmas!

Christmas Build-a-Pageant: Telling the Story together - all ages - celebrating how Jesus came to earth. Thanks to our kids and adults for leading us in the pageant!

Advent Gift Cards for our

neighborhood schools

We collected a total of $ 1,705 in gift cards. These resources will be distributed to families in need through our neighborhood schools.

Crosstown will “pray in” the new year with a multi-generational gathering on Sunday, January 5 @ 11:30 AM. Yes, we’re invited to stay overtime after worship that day! We'll seek Jesus’ guidance and provision for our congregation in the new year! Our prayer time will begin in the Commons and continue until 12:30 PM.

Pastor John invites Crosstown to participate in a Twin Cities wide celebration of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King’s life on Sunday, January 19, 2025 @ 6 pm. This Twin City wide gathering will be hosted by Bishop William Howell and the dear people of Shiloh Temple in Minneapolis.

Crosstown’s dear postal carrier, Duane Pederson, is moving into retirement at the end of 2024. For the last 31 years, our congregation has been blessed with this incredible friend. Truly, we are thankful to Duane for his exemplary service on our route over these many years. We pray God’s blessing on him as he moves into the next chapter of his life!

Did you know that the Nokomis Library provides books at our food distribution? It’s true! In December the library’s once/month visit included winter wear for children. In addition, through generous funds provided by our neighbors and Trinity Lutheran, we were able to provide each of our families with a CUB gift card. Plus, don’t miss the picture of the handmade dishcloths adorning the bottles of dish soap. These works of love highlight the TLC that is part of our food distribution!

Nokomis East Food Distribution

On Wednesday, December 11 we served 110 families (415 people) a total of 3,347 #’s of food.

24 volunteers served a total of 64 hours.

Upcoming days to serve include January 8 & 22, 2025.

Over the past few months, the newsletter has shared our current deficit and we ask you to prayerfully consider a generous gift to help our church end 2024 with a balanced budget.  Here is our financial report - November:

We want to thank the 55 people who filled-out this inventory.  Your investment in Crosstown’s ministry is deeply appreciated!  A team of Crosstown’s leaders has met with a consultant to help us understand our results.  As we process this information, we will be sharing this with the congregation in January.  The Leadership Team will use this information in prayer and planning as we move into 2025.

All-Church Retreat Update

After much thought, discussion, and prayer, we have decided not to plan an All Church Retreat at Covenant Pines in 2025. The full rationale for this decision is available at the following link:
