Status on the Sale of 25 North Washington Dr.

At a special congregation meeting held several months ago, members of SAKLC voted to approve the sale of the church house property located at 25 N. Washington Dr.

After interviewing several real estate agencies, the task force, assigned by the Council, listed the property with the Laughlin Tanner Group. Unfortunately, there was minimal interest in the property while it was listed.

Over the course of Hurricane Milton and Hurricane Helene, the house was badly damaged. It took on several feet of water in each storm. When church staff were finally able to access the property, there was already significant mold throughout the house, in addition to destroyed appliances, flooring, drywall, and air conditioning units.

An insurance claim was filed for the damage and has just recently been completed.

The task force and Church Council will continue to be in discussion regarding the long term decision about the property. For the time being, we believe it most prudent to have structure demolished. We have obtained quotes and the necessary city permits in order to do this.

Demolishing the house structure will remove the need for costly insurance for the property. We also believe that, if listed for sale again, it may be more attractive to potential buyers as a vacant lot.

Please note the task force and Council continue to move, thoughtfully and carefully regarding the future decisions of this property. As always, we value your thoughts and feedback anytime.

Community Service Ministry

CSM members relocated their cooking venue in order to ensure that Resurrection House and the youth shelter would still receive their monthly meal from SAKLC. We will continue to do this until our kitchen is available at church
