Young Leaders Academy
This week, we are featuring Young Leaders Academy and its Trust-funded after-school program. Young Leaders Academy is proud to offer a unique curriculum for youth ages 5 to 13 within a school climate and culture that embraces ingenuity, leadership, and critical thinking skills. Their extended after-school program immediately starts upon dismissal of the regular instructional school day and extends learning beyond traditional classroom to enhance children's experiences with community guest speaker presentations, folkloric dance performances, project-based learning, physical exercise, etiquette classes, and artistic image renderings. The Department of Children and Families (DCF) Office of Substance Abuse and Mental Health (SAMH) providse support to implement The Facts. Your Future. Prevention Initiative that aligns with the State of Florida’s goals to prevent opioid abuse, utilizing department-provided and branded resources and materials in response to the opioid crisis in the state. Maternal and Child Health Secondary Data Analysis Research Grants Available |
U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) (MCH SDAR) Maternal and Child Health Secondary Data Analysis Research grants are available to support research that analyzes existing national data sets or administrative records to answer questions that can improve the health and well-being of Maternal and Child Health (MCH) populations, including children and adolescents with Autism/Developmental Disabilities (DD). Eligibility is limited to nonprofits having a 501(c)(3) status with the IRS, other than institutions of higher education; Native American tribal organizations (other than Federally recognized tribal governments); and public or non-profit institutions of higher learning (i.e., education) and public or private non-profit agencies engaged in research or in programs relating to maternal and child health and/or services for children with special health care needs. Award Ceiling: $60,000. Applications must be submitted by February 25.

The Life Time Kids Run Miami program is entering its 20th year, and the program hopes to welcome students to be a part of the action! The Life Time Kids Run Miami program encourages children and middle school students, ages 6-13, to run 25.2 miles over 15 weeks, culminating at the Life Time Miami Marathon & Half presented by FP Movement (February 2, 2025) with the Final Mile event where all participants will earn their own medal!
Complimentary to Miami-Dade County schools, the Life Time Kids Run Miami program aims to help reduce the health risks and conditions that kids face today by promoting physical education and an active lifestyle through running, and it is their goal to involve as many children as possible from start to finish.

Case Manager (St. Luke’s Center)
This non-exempt position will coordinate case management services focusing on medical services and follow up for individuals served; and provides educational groups related to independent living skills at a substance-use residential facility.
Team Leader (Children’s Village)
This exempt position is responsible for supervising Youth Care Workers, ensuring the safety and well-being of minors in care through constant supervision, facility checks, and documentation. The role includes managing staff, conducting intake and discharge processes, monitoring behavior, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, while also participating in interdisciplinary meetings and handling emergency situations as needed.
Lead Case Manager (Children’s Village)

They also manage staff professional development, conduct classroom observations, track assessments and performance data, and ensure compliance with reporting and safety regulations, while supporting program improvement and coordinating resources for staff and parents.

This is a non-exempt position that is responsible for coordinating services as it relates to family social services, early childhood health, mental health and disability services for children in accordance with Head Start & DCF requirements.
