RICHMOND, VIRGINIA – At this week’s Virginia Chamber of Commerce Executive Committee meeting in Richmond, Barry DuVal announced his plans to retire as President & CEO of the Virginia Chamber of Commerce in early 2025. | |
Born and raised in Virginia and grew up in Newport News, Barry DuVal served as Mayor of Newport News from 1990-1996, Secretary of Commerce & Trade for Virginia from 1998-2002, and was selected as President and CEO for the Virginia Chamber of Commerce in April 2010. |
“During his tenure with the Virginia Chamber of Commerce, Barry DuVal has transformed the state chamber into the most influential business advocacy organization in the state,” said Robert Duvall, Chairman of the Virginia Chamber for 2024. “I want to express the appreciation of the Board of Directors for DuVal’s outstanding leadership. The Chamber membership has grown from approximately 1,000 in 2010, to over 32,000 members today. He has raised the profile of the Chamber, and its programs have greatly enhanced the business climate of Virginia.”

C I Destinations, in partnership with the Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce, presents an International trip to Sunny Portugal, departing March 2025.
The Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce will be coordinating a trip to Sunny Portugal which will depart on March 18, 2025. Highlights will include 7 nights at a 4 star hotel touring:

CHAMBER TO HOST DANVILLE CITY CANDIDATE FORUMS | |
Forums Will Give Voters the Opportunity to Hear from Candidates
[Danville, VA] – The Danville Pittsylvania Chamber of Commerce will host a free event for the public featuring candidates running for Danville City Council and Danville City School Board. The format will feature five minutes of comments by each candidate. Questions will be collected at the door and will be answered as time permits.
The event will be held on Wednesday, October 9, 2024, beginning with a meet and greet at 5:30 p.m. at Danville Community College’s Oliver Hall which is in the Temple Building located at 1007 Bonner Avenue. The forum will begin at 6:00 p.m. All candidates have confirmed attendance. The event will also be streamed LIVE on the Chamber's Facebook page.

The forum will be moderated by Linda Green, chair of Chamber’s Legislative Committee. “Citizens vote for leaders to represent them and their ideas, and leaders have an obligation to support the citizens’ interests,” said Green. “That requires strong communications between the candidates and their constituents to ensure that the opportunities and concerns of the citizens are considered first and foremost in the decisions for which the local official will preside. The Chamber is pleased to support this opportunity to know your candidates before you vote.”
