PRELUDE      Don’t Be Weary, Traveler     arr. Bruce Trinkley   Good News

  • CALL TO WORSHIP

Jesus declared, “Blessed are you who are poor, for yours is the kingdom of God.”

May we learn to depend on God’s abundant provision instead of the world’s grasping for wealth as we worship today.

Jesus declared, “Blessed are you who are hungry now, for you will be filled.”

May we learn to follow Christ’s call to provide for the hungry as co-creators of God’s kingdom as we worship today.

Jesus declared, “Blessed are you who weep now, for you will laugh.”

May we learn to pay attention to those who suffer and mourn and to extend God’s comfort and hope to those who need it as we worship today.

Jesus declared, “Blessed are you when people hate you and when they exclude you, revile you, and defame you on account of the Son of Man.”

May our worship teach us to rejoice in that day and every day as we live out the good news in our families, neighborhoods, community, and world!

Thanks be to God!

Translation: Like the hart desires the streams, so longs my soul for you, O God.

MESSAGE

MUSICAL RESPONSE For the Fruit of all Creation     Ar Hyd Y Nos

For the fruit of all creation, thanks be to God;

for the gifts of every nation, thanks be to God;

for the ploughing, sowing, reaping, silent growth while we are sleeping,

future needs in earth's safe-keeping, thanks be to God.

In the just reward of labor, God's will is done;

in the help we give our neighbor,God's will is done;

in our worldwide task of caring for the hungry and despairing,

in the harvests we are sharing, God's will is done.

For the harvests of the Spirit, thanks be to God;

for the good we all inherit, thanks be to God;

for the wonders that astound us, for the truths that still confound us,

most of all that love has found us, thanks be to God.

CONFESSION & ASSURANCE OF PARDON

Merciful Lord, we pause to confess that sometimes we listen to the advice of the ungodly. We know better, but for some reason, we listen anyway. Forgive us. The lure of a quick fix, easy money, or pleasure turned our heads away from you, Lord. Forgive us. We knew it was wrong as soon as we did it, but pride kept us from backing out of our decision. Forgive us. Teach us the joy of being righteous. Show us how to delight in being holy. Remind us that new life in Christ means new thoughts, new ways, new decisions. Forgive us for failing to trust you in all things. Amen.

SILENCE

Living God have mercy on you, forgive you all your sins through our Lord Jesus Christ, strengthen you in all goodness, and keep you in eternal life by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

OFFERTORY PRAYER

Gracious God, who blesses us in our brokenness and rejoices with us in our joy, we bring these gifts as an offering of hope and love. May they be used to heal the hurting, feed the hungry, and welcome the weary. Help us to be a community that reflects your kingdom, where all find acceptance and grace. In Jesus’ name, we pray. Amen.

THE GREAT THANKSGIVING TFWS 2257 b,c,d

The Lord be with you.

And also with you.

Lift up your hearts.

We lift them up to the Lord.

Let us give thanks to the Lord our God.

It is right to give our thanks and praise.

Glory and honor and praise to you, holy and living God. To deliver us from the power of sin and death and to reveal the riches of your grace, you looked with favor upon Mary, your willing servant, that she might conceive and bear a son, Jesus the holy child of God.

Living among us, Jesus loved us.

He broke bread with outcasts and sinners, healed the sick, and proclaimed good news to the poor. He yearned to draw all the world to himself yet we were heedless of his call to walk in love. Then, the time came for him to complete upon the cross the sacrifice of his life, and to be glorified by you.

And so we praise you, with all the company of saints and sinners, singing your unending hymn:

Holy, holy, holy God of power and might,

Heaven and earth are full of your glory

Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

Blessed is the One who comes in the name of the Lord.

Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

On the night before he died for us, Jesus was at table with his friends. He took bread, gave thanks to you, broke it, and gave it to them, and said, “Take, eat: This is my Body, which is given for you. Do this for the remembrance of me.” As supper was ending, Jesus took the cup of wine. Again, he gave thanks to you, gave it to them, and said, “Drink this, all of you: This is my Blood of the new Covenant, which is poured out for you and for all for the forgiveness of sins. Whenever you drink it, do this for the remembrance of me.” Now gathered at your table, O God of all creation, and remembering Christ, crucified and risen, who was and is and is to come, we offer to you our gifts of bread and wine, and ourselves, a living sacrifice.

Christ has died; Christ is risen; Christ will come again.

Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

Pour out your Spirit upon these gifts that they may be the Body and Blood of Christ. Breathe your Spirit over the whole earth and make us your new creation, the Body of Christ given for the world you have made. In the fullness of time bring us, with all your saints, from every tribe and language and people and nation, to feast at the banquet prepared from the foundation of the world. Through Christ and with Christ and in Christ, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, to you be honor, glory, and praise, for ever and ever. AMEN. The Celebrant then continues And now, as our Savior Christ has taught us, we are bold to say,

LORDS PRAYER

AMEN RESPONSE:     Amen, Amen, Amen. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest. Hosanna in the highest.

God is before us.

God is behind us.

God is above us.

God’s words shall come from our mouths.

For we are all Gods essence, a sign of Gods love.

All is finished in beauty.
