Here's a new idea!
Dolval is a small mountain community in Haiti. It's where our founder and CEO, Pastor Oris, used to lead and it is also the first location in Haiti where our mission worked. We have a long history there, spanning more than 24 years! Last summer, many of you gave to bring much-needed food to the area during a time of famine. This sparked an idea Pastor Oris would like to develop, involving some of the volunteers that brought the food to the village. We envision a new Gospel-oriented program for kids on Saturdays. Kids in the village need something positive in their lives as the country continues to struggle with financial disaster, insecurity, and an unstable government. The program would involve fun activities, songs, games, a Bible lesson, and food!
We want to help...
Dolval is in a very poor part of a very poor country. Yet, there is richness of another kind there. There is wealth of the soul that surpasses that of many materially wealthy areas. We believe it's important to build on this strong foundation. We know a leader who helped with the summer food program, and he's and ideal candidate to train volunteers and monitor the effectiveness of the program. We will need to pay a stipend for his time, and there will also be material cost for activities, and food the volunteers will cook. It's not a huge program, but sometimes small, lightweight initiatives with high-contact can have the most impact.
