The District conducted a test call of our all-call system on Wednesday, December 11. Several individuals contacted us to inform us that they did not receive the test call.
We spoke with School Messenger and found out that their system had a glitch in their phone system on Wednesday. We are waiting for confirmation of repair to their system. When the system is repaired, we will conduct another test call, hopefully in the very near future.
In the meantime, please opt-in to our text message feature. Text "YES" to 67587 to receive text messages from the District.
We will send an email to let you know when we plan to do the test call. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Kings High School is committed to help students to be prepared for life outside of the high school walls.
Career Quest is an in-school program that works to help high school seniors find their best first step after graduation. The program began eight years ago and was run by KHS Guidance Coordinator, Debby Henderson. In the past, the program consisted of 20-25 students who were unsure of their future plans.
For the past two years, Mrs. Henderson has been joined by Kurtis Keller in a limited capacity who helped our non-college-bound seniors. This year, the program has grown and now Mr. Keller is serving as the Career Services Coordinator, not only running the Career Quest Program but also helping any KHS student explore their career interests and prepare them for the workforce.
Keller is at KHS three days a week and is available to help students with resumes, interview preparations, job search skills, internship opportunities, shadowing experiences, volunteer experiences, and career planning.
Recently he brought the City of Cincinnati to KHS to present to the Employability and Careers class about all of the career pathways available in the city. He also coordinated a site visit to SHP Leading Design, the firm that is designing the new high school. The visit gave students a better idea of what specific career pathways are available within the architecture field, as well as adjacent careers that are not often considered. He is now working with SHP to collaborate job shadowing and student internships.
Kurtis presented at the Kings Board of Education meeting in November. Learn more about the program here.

Community Shows Up to Sort Candy
Thank you to the students and families who volunteered last weekend to weigh, sort, pack, load up, and deliver 1,608 pounds of candy and notes of encouragement for our deployed troops. All candy was delivered to the Yellow Ribbon Support Center where it will be boxed up and shipped out to our deployed troops.
Hope Cantrall, the organizer and founder of the J.F. Burns Candy Drive for the Troops said, "Thank you for thirteen years of support of the JFB Candy Drive for the Troops!" This year is even more special to Hope as her son, Bartt Albarado, a 2009 KHS graduate, is deployed and will be one of the troops receiving the candy. "I'm extra grateful this year," she said.

Preschoolers Hunting the Gingerbread Man
Mrs. LesChander’s preschool classes at the Kings Early Childhood Center have been reading stories about the Gingerbread Man. This week, the Gingerbread Man left clues all over the school to try to catch him. Students ran and ran as fast as they could, but he got away and left treats. Mrs. LesChander said, "They even spotted him outside the school and on the security cameras!"

In an effort to be "green," the District does not send paper flyers home. We use a platform called Peachjar that houses flyers of community programs and resources.
Parents receive approved flyers via email, and they are posted on our digital flyerboard for easy retrieval. Any organization can distribute information to our community by creating an account!

We are looking to bolster our Kings Alumni database. Are you a Kings High School graduate or know someone who is? Please share the form with your fellow graduates. This will help our reunion committees and keep you updated on what is happening at your alma mater!
