Feed My Starting Children Serve Event

Thanks to those who served at Feed My Starving Children on Saturday, February 1 and Saturday, February 8

Winter Sermon Series

On Sunday, February 9, Pastor John began a fresh message series on the last book of the Bible–Revelation. Our focus in this journey will be on finding hope in Jesus in the midst of a challenging cultural moment. As Bible teacher Scot McKnight writes, “like the Penvensie children who entered Narnia through the wardrobe door, we’ll discover we are next to John in God’s throne room” (Revelation for the Rest of Us, p. 31). Instead of end times speculation, we’ll gain faith and fortitude as we read Revelation through the lens we share with the historic Church!

Crosstown Welcomes Sarah Friedmann as

Food Distribution Manager

We are delighted to announce that Sarah Friedman has accepted the position of “Nokomis East Food Distribution Manager.” In this role, Sarah will provide “hands-on” oversight of this ministry of providing food for our neighbors. Sarah comes to us with a degree from Lawrence University as well as a Master’s in Public Policy from the Humphrey School. This role is being funded by a grant that Crosstown has received from the Northwest Conference of the Evangelical Covenant Church. We’ll be officially welcoming Sarah in worship on Sunday, March 23!

Midwinter Highlight

Last month at Midwinter, our Pastors–Polly & John–heard the Rev. Sanetta Ponton deliver a powerful sermon calling the church to deeper discipleship. She challenged Jesus’ people to examine how closely they are following Jesus, especially when discipleship demands courage, sacrifice, and justice.

New Grow Group Alert

On Wednesday, February 19, we’ll begin a fresh focus on Revelation by interacting with Scot McKnight’s work, Revelation for the Rest of Us: A Prophetic Call to Follow Jesus as a Dissident Disciple. He writes, “Our point is that good readers of Revelation will read it more like The Lord of the Rings than Paul’s letter to the Romans.” This Group Group will be in alignment with Pastor John’s ongoing sermon series in Revelation and will continue for 10 weeks.
