Stewardship Ingathering tomorrow

Please return your pledge card tomorrow

Tomorrow, Sunday, December 1, is the ingathering of our pledges to support the Church of the Resurrection for 2025.

Our theme this year has been Walk in Love. After several weeks of preparation, Ingathering Sunday is the time for all of us to “walk in love” by making a financial pledge to our parish. It is also a pledge of your intention to serve and support the church and to be the Body of Christ.

If you have already turned in your pledge, we thank you for your gift. If you have not pledged yet, please know any level of financial support is graciously accepted and welcome. Prayerfully consider what you can afford. Your pledge can be adjusted up or down as needed as the year progresses.

In addition to being a time of giving, Ingathering Sunday is also a time of thanksgiving. The Vestry of Resurrection is thankful for the powerful gift this community of faith is to one another and to our neighbors in need. Every act of prayer, worship, learning, service, care, listening, fellowship, and outreach is an action of the Body of Christ making a difference to those around us. It is a joy to behold and a blessing to be part of. Thank you for all you contribute to our journey to Walk in Love.

Please place your pledge card in the offering plate tomorrow or pledge on-line by clicking here.

First Sunday Breakfast tomorrow

Between services beginning at 9:15 am

Join us for church tomorrow and also enjoy our traditional First Sunday Breakfast in the undercroft, beginning at 9:15 am.

We'll be serving the usual menu of eggs and pancakes, along with bacon and sausage.

New Advent vestments blessed

In memory of Sue Johnson

Last Sunday Fr. Doug Johnson + blessed our new vestments and frontals for the Advent season.

These beautiful gifts were purchased with the memorial funds donated in memory of Sue Johnson, wife of Fr. Doug +, who passed away unexpectedly in March of this year.

O Lord, we give you thanks for the life of thy departed servant Sue Johnson who is now in your loving care. Please grant her eternal rest. Amen

Make Christmas brighter

The Community Services League's Christmas Store is a long-time tradition to provide Christmas assistance to our neighbors in need. This wonderful event allows parents to find a toy or gift for their children to open on Christmas day who otherwise would not receive a gift.

Resurrection supports this outreach by asking parish members to take a tag from our gift tree and purchase the item on the tag. Then place the unwrapped gift under the tree on or before December 8. We'll take it from there and deliver the donations to CSL to brighten the Christmas morning of many families!

If you are interested in helping sort gifts or escort recipients through the Christmas Store on Wednesday, December 11, please call Amanda at CSL at (816) 690-8213.

Sign-up now for Nunsense by Dec. 29

February 1 show

Sign-up in the Narthex by December 29 to see the show Nunsense at the New Theatre & Restaurant on February 1, 2025. Seating is at 11:45 am. Tickets cost $39,50 and include the show, a buffet meal, and drink (coffee, tea or soft drink).

Nunsense is a hilarious comedy spoof about five nuns who get caught up in a series of misadventures. The convent’s cook, Sister Julia, accidentally serves food that poisons a large group of nuns and they start dropping dead like flies!

When the remaining sisters plan a talent show to raise money to bury their dearly departed, hilarity ensues! With catchy songs and irreverent comedy, Nunsense is sure to keep audiences rolling with laughter. This show is great for all ages, bring the whole family! Starring Vicki Lewis, Beth in “NewsRadio,” Deb in “Finding Nemo” and Flo in “Finding Dory.”
