In celebration National Read a Book Day on September 6th, we're reading feel-good books that bring us joy. Check them out at the library: | |
The Kamogawa Food Detectives
by Hisashi Kashiwai
Recommended by KATE, who describes this book as a "charming novel about memory, nostalgia, and the art of moving forward. The food detectives can recreate the exact noodle soup made by your deceased spouse, the snacks your babysitter fed you as a child, or your mother's bakery. By reliving the past, characters are able to process their feelings and turn the page to the next chapter of their life. With colorful characters, intelligent investigators, and delicious descriptions of Kyoto-style cuisine, this feel-good novel is one readers can really sink their teeth into."

Snapdragon
by Kat Leyh
This book is recommended by ABBY, who notes that the narrative of this title "revolves around Snapdragon as she forms a bond with an elderly woman rumored to be a witch. This book stands out as a compelling story that encourages believing in yourself and finding your own way in life even if those around you may think it’s weird. What’s even better is that the book is full of wonderful inclusive representation and trans positivity. Overall, it’s an incredibly fulfilling and positive tale about friendship, magic, and self-discovery!"
