Greetings From Mr. Estes... |
Dear SASEAS Families,
At mass this morning Fr Ed spoke about the need for rules in our life and their value within a well functioning community; our school community certainly benefits from our collective willingness to function within specific expectations. He also mentioned that there are times that it is necessary to break rules, an ambulance running a red light for example; he pointed out that breaking the rule of stopping at a red light was done to help someone in need and was ultimately “right and good”. Many years ago I was taught to use the “right and good” criterion as a decision making tool when faced with challenging choices. It has helped me often and “right and good” decisions seldom break rules. I also want to reiterate here that Fr Ed emphasized several times to our students that he was not giving them permission to break rules; I just want to ensure that part of the message makes it home : ).
Next week we will be celebrating Catholic Schools Week along with all the other Catholic schools in the United States. Since 1974 the last week of January has been recognized as a time to bring to light the value Catholic education provides students, families, our parish community, and the world. I am grateful to be participating in the activities of this well deserved week as the principal of SASEAS school within the Saint Mary Magdalene Family.
During Catholic Schools Week, we will once again come together as a community to recognize the uniqueness of our school at the SASEAS SHOWCASE next Wednesday evening from 5:30 until 7:00. I am extremely grateful to the faculty, staff, students, and volunteers for the time and effort they put into making this happen. I look forward to seeing you at this opportunity to show off your student’s work and the wonderful growth activities happening daily in our school. All are welcome to attend, please bring family and friends along and help us share this wonderful blessing within our community with others.
Registration for the 2025-2026 academic year opened yesterday, January 21. Please complete and return registration paperwork to the school office at your earliest convenience. We are anticipating continued growth and early registration enables us to more easily manage the logistical challenges of that growth.
Please see the reminder section for Catholic Schools Week and the SASEAS SHOWCASE details, as well as other pertinent information.
Make it a great week!

Parents/Guardians,
Unfortunately, we have been hit hard recently with Respiratory and GI viruses. Schools are environments where children and staff interact closely, which can make the spread of illness more likely. However, there are several effective strategies that students, teachers, and parents can implement to help reduce the transmission of illnesses in school settings.
By following these steps, we can ensure a healthier learning environment for everyone.
1. Teach and Practice Good Hand Hygiene
Handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of illness. Students should wash their hands regularly, especially after using the restroom, before eating, and after coughing or sneezing. Soap and water is preferred, and hand washing should last at least 20 seconds to be effective.
2. Encourage Respiratory Etiquette
Students should be taught to cover their mouth and nose with a tissue or the inside of their elbow when coughing or sneezing. This practice helps prevent germs from spreading in the air or landing on surfaces that others may touch. Remind children to dispose of tissues immediately and wash their hands afterward.
3. Stay Home When Sick
One of the most effective ways to prevent the spread of illness in schools is for sick students and staff to stay home. If a child exhibits symptoms of illness such as fever, coughing, or a runny nose, vomiting or diarrhea it’s crucial they stay home until they are no longer contagious or fully recovered.
5. Promote Healthy Habits
In addition to hygiene, encourage healthy habits that boost immune systems. Encourage students to eat nutritious foods, drink plenty of water, get enough sleep, and stay active. Healthy students are less likely to become seriously ill and are better equipped to avoid the spread of illnesses.

Preschool Registration packets have been sent home. Completed registration packets should be returned to the
Preschool office by Friday, January 25th for priority registration. All current SASEAS school families are eligible for priority registration. If you would like a registration packet for an incoming three, four, or five-year-old please contact the Preschool office at (513) 575-9900 or limberga@saseas.org.
SASEAS Preschool is also getting ready for the SASEAS Catholic Schools Showcase which will be held Wednesday, January 29th, from 5:30-7:00 pm. Our students can’t wait for you to come see the things they’ve been learning in Preschool!
This is Hibernation Week at SASEAS Preschool. Mrs. Sheila’s 3-year-old class is finding out what bears like to eat and where they live. They are learning their colors from the “Brown Bear, Brown Bear” book. They will have a pajama day to celebrate hibernation on Thursday.
Mrs. Christina’s 3-year-old classes are learning about animals that hibernate and animals that migrate. They are making brown bear masks in art and studying the Creation Story in Religion.
Our four-year-old classes are creating a Hibernation Chart in Science as they learn about animals that hibernate, migrate, or adapt to the environment in which they live. They are looking forward to their Hibernation Day when they can bring a teddy bear to school and wear PJs. The religion lesson this week is about the Creation Story.
Our five-year-old class is learning about the animals that sleep during the winter and they are focusing on bears. They are making bear caves in art and writing the names of hibernating animals in language arts. They also get to participate in a Hibernation Celebration. They will wear their pajamas to school and bring in a stuffed bear.
Have a great week!

PRESCHOOL REGISTRATION INFORMATION
-
Preschool registration for children currently enrolled in our program will begin on Jan. 21st Registration forms will go home on Jan. 16th and 17th with the children currently enrolled in the 3-year-old classes and those who’ve let me know they need 5-year-old and/or sibling packets. A cover letter will be attached to each registration form explaining the registration procedure. If you have a preschooler that is currently in our 4-year-old program and wish to enroll them in our 5-year-old program, please notify me so I can send a registration form home with your child.
- Everyone currently enrolled in our 3-year-old program is guaranteed a place in a program for next school year, but we cannot guarantee your first choice selection. For example, if 20 parents request the 3-day morning session for 4-year-olds and there are only 17 openings, we will hold a lottery for that class session. The parents that did not get their first choice will automatically get their second choice.
-
All registration forms must be accompanied by a registration check of $85.00 made out to SASEAS Preschool. All tuition and medical forms should be up-to-date to register for the 2025-2026 school year.
-
Parents of preschool siblings who wish to register for next school year can notify me by phone (513) 575-9900, or email limberga@saseas.org so I can send a form home.
