KICK-OFF SUNDAY

This Sunday, September 8th will be our kick-off Sunday. There will be a picnic after the 10:30 a.m. service. Hot dogs, hamburgers, and beverages will be provided. Please bring a side or dessert. Sunday School starts as well.

OUTREACH

  • St. Martin’s will collect used sneakers until September 16th. The sneakers will be given to the Women’s Literary Club of Bound Brook, which will donate them to GotSneakers for recycling. The club receives a small amount of money to purchase ShopRite gift cards for needy families in Somerset County. All sizes are fine.

  • The Food Bank is in great need of food items, paper goods, and toiletries for our neighbors in Somerset County. We especially want to focus on personal items and cleaning products, such as toothpaste, feminine products, toilet paper, cleaning supplies, etc. Cash and checks are also greatly appreciated. There’s always a container on the stairs leading up to the choir loft.

  • St. Martin’s will collect styrofoam until the end of September, perhaps longer. It will go to a business in Somerville which makes it into molding for cruise ships.

If you have any questions, please get in touch with Kathy Shanklin.

PRAYER LIST

  • For the repose of Mary Irwin's soul

Please send your prayer intentions to Philip at philip.muniz@gmail.com. Also, if you want a name removed, you can email Philip.

EVANGELISM COMMITTEE

We are looking for greeters to welcome new attendees at our Sunday services. If you volunteer, you will be scheduled to serve only once a month. Please contact Fr. Rob or Yvonne Comeau if you are interested.

CRUCIFERS AND LAY READERS NEEDED

Several of our crucifers will start the next chapter of their lives at college in the Fall, and some of our lay readers have moved away. We need people to serve as Crucifer and Lay Reader at the 10:30 Mass.

Adults and youth who are rising 7th graders and above are welcome to serve as Crucifer.

Adults and youth who are rising 9th graders and above are welcome to serve as Lay Readers.

Please let Father Rob know if you are interested in serving. A training session will be held in late August.

AUDIT COMMITTEE

The vestry and I are forming an audit committee to accomplish two tasks:

1) Assist with the audit for 2023 and 2) Audit the church books for 2021 and 2022.

Marlene Ficzko is chairing the audit committee and Jim Agosto has also agreed to serve on this committee.

We need one or two more people to help. Diocesan Rules do not permit a member of the current vestry to serve on this committee.

If you have a financial background and can help, please let Father Rob know.
