SCROOGE! THE MUSICAL

Fauquier Community Theatre presents the classic Scrooge! The Musical as the heartwarming holiday choice of live theater with a cast of 22.

Scrooge! The Musical is based on the classic Charles Dickens tale of A Christmas Carol. Music and Lyrics are by Leslie Bricusse, the award-winning British composer, lyricist, and playwright.

In the title role, Michael J. Baker, Jr. as Ebenezer Scrooge has received multiple awards for his performances in musical comedy and dramatic theatre.

He has worked in New York as an actor and voiceover artist and has sung at The Kennedy Center, Wolf Trap, and The White House. The role of Ebenezer Scrooge is one of Baker's favorites and he has performed in multiple productions of the holiday classic.

Baker, says, "My journey as Scrooge has given me an everted view of A Christmas Carol and the Dickensian terrain as a whole. I have endeavored to sculpt a portion of the tale from the actor’s perspective - how Scrooge perceives the world and his audience, instead of the reverse."

The holiday classic is well known around the world and Tiny Tim is one of the most beloved characters who is central to the miserly Ebenezer Scrooge's transformation.

The set design by Diane King transports the audience to London in the mid 1800’s. Costume designer Kyna Chilcot adds Londonesque finesse to the characters. The song and dance numbers, under the direction of music director Anthony Smitha and choreographer Gabrielle Tessier, bring excitement to the holiday classic.

Director Jack Tessier remarks, "This is an ensemble-led show, and every member of the 22-person cast brings their all to every role they play. Playing over 42 distinct characters, each performer dons several costumes to expertly perform two, three, or even four roles! The cast came from all over, but immediately bonded over this shared vision and experience, and their love for each other and this material will be evident to all and truly pleasurable to witness."
