Successful 2019 IISE Lean and Six Sigma Conference - A message from the conference chair
The 2019 IISE Engineering Lean and Six Sigma Conference is in the history books! Congratulations and many thanks to all of our wonderful committee members, the IISE staff, presenters, keynote speakers, student volunteers, and our featured speakers. A special thanks to Carol LeBlanc!
This year's conference did not disappoint! The committee set an intention this year for new content. Our call highlighted an invitation for presenters to share insights and learnings in the areas of Industry 4.0, Artificial Intelligence, and Data Science and their impact in the Lean Six Sigma space. These sessions were standing room only! Our featured speakers, Michael Testani and Dr. Ben Amaba, shared that Industrial Engineers (P.E.) with lean six sigma experience are an extremely valuable and in demand resource for AI and Data Science. Our keynote speakers from the M.D. Anderson, Dr. Pister and Chick-fil-a, David Reid were very inspirational and informative. Both organizations shared great case studies of the impact engagement and purpose have on driving a culture of continuous improvement.
The program presentations covered academia, healthcare, government, manufacturing, service and more. There was program content for all. The Opex Division Town Hall was informative and a lot of fun....actually quite competitive. You had to have been there to understand how serious these lean six sigma zealots were during a game of jeopardy. Additionally, the committee desired to drive a sense of community. The Bingo game was a hit, as well as our dine arounds. And we learned a few tricks with LinkedIn....yes, the grand ballroom attendees all LinkedIn at one time. You have to love technology. Lastly, several of our speakers and presenters were interviewed for the podcast! And our social media posts and photo directory illustrate our experience.
2020 is around the corner! Make plans now to join us next year! Stay tuned for more information.
