First Fruits ~ a moment of reflection
Bob Hawk's Stewardship share from Sunday, November 24th
| |
In the above video excerpt from Stewardship Sunday, Bob Hawk shares how through a couple of nice steaks and some truffle butter, he came to recognize the importance of prioritizing his relationship with God and the mission of UCC Norwell this Stewardship season. Inspired by this realization, he made the decision to increase his pledge, not out of obligation, but out of a renewed understanding of where his resources could make the greatest impact.
If you have not already done so, please make your 2025 financial pledge commitment as soon as possible. This allows our Finance Committee and Church Council to craft an informed and responsible budget to support our ministries in the coming year.
This Advent, we embark on a sermon series that traces the prophetic promise of hope, peace, and joy all the way to the manager. Through the words of the ancient prophets, we will examine how God's message of redemption stands in stark contrast to the struggles and anxieties of our present day. In the midst of a broken world, the prophets speak of a peace that surpasses understanding, a hope that will not fail, a love that never gives up, and a joy that endures beyond circumstances. As we reflect on these promises, we will be reminded that the birth of Christ is the fulfillment of God's vision for healing and restoration—offering us light and renewal even in our darkest moments. This Advent, we are invited to lean into these prophetic words, allowing them to reshape our hearts and lives as we await the coming of the Savior.
Thank you to everyone who brought food items to church for our Ingathering
Two deliveries to the Norwell Food Pantry were necessary due to the overwhelming generosity of our congregation this past Sunday, and donations on Monday, too.
The Norwell Food Pantry serves over 50 families each week, typically providing 25 items per family. However, during Thanksgiving week, they generously increase this to 35 items per family. The Food Pantry staff expressed their sincere gratitude for our donations, as this is a particularly busy time of year.
