We're so proud of our Scouts! Troop 1893 served as the honor guard, presenting the colors at the 2024 Richmond Marathon. This is a great responsibility that Scouts perform to honor their duty to country, and a wonderful service that helps to better connect us to our communities. Additionally, Troop and Pack 501, and Troop 500G set up a water stop at mile marker 24, providing much-needed hydration for many of the 21,000 race participants - a unit tradition since 2021! We invite you to see all the great photos of our Scouts in action at the Richmond Marathon by visiting our Facebook page.

The ESSPY Award recognizes a service project of an exceptional nature by a Scout to a religious institution, a school, community, or other entity. Each year, local councils select a council-level winner, and from that pool, each service territory selects a territory-level winner. A national winner is then selected from the 16 territory finalists. Nominations are due by January 31st, 2025.
