We Do Not Always Get What We Want

Greetings!

As I write this our country has decided its President. Honestly some Americans are happy, and some are angry. We do not always get what we want. Some people have already started planning for four years down the road in the next election cycle. We must remember that regardless of the result God is still in control. Events that go on in this world should not ruin our contentment in Christ because our contentment is about our relationship with Him and not our external circumstances.

Many of us are living our lives waiting for that one thing to happen and things will be perfect. I had a conversation just yesterday with someone and they said this same thing. If this one thing happens, then I will have the faith to do what I need to do. This person has been asking and submitting for this one thing every three months for the last two years and the answer has been no. I asked them, why not stop? Why not trust God and allow Him to guide your life?

A lot of us want to help God determine our destiny with our own hands. God is God alone and He does not need our help, contrary to public opinion. It is hard to sit on the sidelines and see those that we think are unworthy get the things that we have asked God two years for. Actually, we think God gives things to unworthy people. What we need to understand is that we are just as unworthy. The Devil can give things just as we think God gives things.

We cannot get caught up in looking to the right or to the left and judging the blessings of people. Not every blessing comes from God. The Devil has a reward system as well. The Devil’s blessings are temporary and eventually if not immediately bind us in sin. God’s blessings are permanent and for our good eternally. Our time will come if we just trust Him and His timing.

Always remember, delay does not mean denial. God has a perfect plan, and our sense of time is not His. There will be delays in our lives and sometimes those are divine delays. I thank God for those divine delays in my life. There are times when I have prayed for yes and that yes would have overwhelmed me. I thank God for His timing.

It is possible for the sanctification process to develop patience. I am living proof!

Until next time!!!
