Central State University achieves high ranking among HBCUs for research excellence


Central State University recently announced its ascension to No. 21 among 51 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) in the National Science Foundation’s Fiscal Year 2023 Higher Education Research and Development (HERD) Survey. This marks a significant achievement as CSU is also the highest-ranked predominantly undergraduate HBCU in the survey.

Central State University celebrated the grand opening of the Marauder Boutique — A Treasure Chest for Success on Nov. 15, marking another step in the University's commitment to student professional development. This innovative resource, in partnership with IKEA West Chester and generous donors, offers students free access to professional attire, empowering them to dress for success in class presentations, auditions, interviews, and beyond.

Dr. Ryan Griffin selected for prestigious Inspire Leadership Institute


Ryan L. Griffin Sr., Ed.D., Vice Provost for Engagement and Persistence and Dean of Student Development at Central State University, has been selected to participate in the highly esteemed Inspire Leadership Institute, hosted by the Higher Education Leadership Foundation (HELF). This program, designed to prepare future leaders in higher education, emphasizes innovation, career development, and strategies for navigating the challenges facing Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs). Opening doors through Spanish language learning 


Tiffanie Clark, Ph.D., who teaches Spanish at Central State University, is known to use innovative tools and experiences to foster learning in and out of the classroom. Hailing from Canton, Ohio, Dr. Clark’s path began in a middle-class household where she was introduced to Spanish in middle school. Without the benefit of formal high school classes, her self-motivation led her to immerse herself in the language. Her passion flourished as she encountered diverse Spanish-speaking communities. Read more
