AUGUST

2024

If you’re reading this, chances are that you know something about the work of the Maryland State Arts Council—or at least, that you’d like to learn more. The short story is that our grant programs are available to artists and organizations working in all facets of Maryland’s vibrant arts ecosystem. We support general operations, projects of all kinds, and even professional development, as well as specialized opportunities for teaching artists, public art, and traditional cultural arts.

Behind it all is a devoted team whose enthusiasm for the work is matched by the satisfaction of getting to know all of you out there across the state, from the Garrett Lakes Arts Festival to the Crisfield Arts and Entertainment District, and every point between. We’re excited that our team grew by one this month with the addition of Brad Bittner, our new fiscal officer! Brad is brand new to MSAC, so look for more about him in an upcoming communication. (Oh, and don't worry about our Executive Director Steven Skerritt-Davis. We're giving him the month off from writing this note.)

Below, you’ll see that we have lost no time in getting the current fiscal year off to a running start. Monthly programs like Creativity and Presenting & Touring are accepting applications now, and Nora Howell and Ryan Patterson are gearing up for a new round of Public Art Across Maryland grants with an upcoming info session and call for panelists.

There’s plenty more in the news that follows, so consider this an invitation to read, absorb, engage, and as always, reach out with any questions. We love hearing from you!
