Halloween at the JMZ

November 12, 2024

Hello Friends,

On October 25, the Friends hosted our third annual Halloween at the JMZ event since reopening. This year's event was our largest yet thanks to the support of our community and our generous sponsors. Proceeds from this sold-out event go to the Friends' Annual Giving Fund, which includes funding for programs that expand access to science education in our community. See some of favorite photos from this fun and spooky night below!

Please mark your calendar for Giving Tuesday on Tuesday, December 3 and consider a donation to the Friends. A generous donor has offered to match every dollar donated to the Friends that day, up to $5,000. Donations can be made on our website at friendsjmz.org/donate.

With gratitude,

Lauren Angelo

President, Friends of the Palo Alto Junior Museum & Zoo

Thank you for joining us at Halloween at the JMZ!

Visitors entered Halloween at the JMZ through the Outdoor Classroom, which was decorated with spider webs, glowing lights, and pumpkins. Trick-or-treaters had the chance to get creative and color goodie bags with crayons.

A team of JMZ Educators and Friends Ambassadors hosted Animal Encounters in one of the JMZ's classrooms. Ambassadors introduced guests to a number of critters associated with Halloween, like spiders and bats.

A trip to the JMZ is never complete without playing with interactive exhibits. Before entering the California Dinosaur Garden to trick-or-treat, visitors explored the Exhibit Hall.

Outside of the JMZ, guests enjoyed pizza (donated by Pizza My Heart), oranges and water (donated by Whole Foods), and ice cream (donated by the Penny Ice Creamery).

James Henry of House of Samba drew a crowd as he performed music for the entire family to enjoy and dance to together.

Everyone's favorite tortoise, Edward, even took the time to say "hello" to guests throughout the JMZ. Accompanied by Zookeeper and Friends Ambassador Lee Harper, Edward made stops in the California Dinosaur Garden and the craft room.

We are incredibly grateful for our community and corporate sponsors who made this event a success!
