Annual Holiday Brunch brought out the joy

of being together and being advocates

More than 60 members and guests packed the upper room of Laziza’s restaurant in downtown Kent for the annual League of Women Voters of Kent Holiday Brunch

This year’s featured speaker was J. Cherie Strachan (at right), professor of political science and director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics at the University of Akron. Her political science research combines interests in political participation, voluntary civic and political organizations, and political communication. Strachan also is co-author of the textbook Why Don’t Women Rule the World?

She fervently urged the League to continue its education and advocacy work as voting becomes more and more complicated. Her talk is available (audio only) here. Below are some photos from the event.

Thanks to Vice President Jackie P; Membership Chair Karen C and Membership Committee members; Treasurer Brian B; Communications Team Amie C and Audrey K; and Ambience Coordinator Sarah A for a wonderful decorations! Special thanks to Laziza Restaurant and its professional staff for a great event.

Happy Holidays to our members!

LWV Kent members and guests enjoy a Saturday morning brunch, chat with friends and listen to guest speaker J. Cherie Strachan, professor of political science and director of the Ray C. Bliss Institute of Applied Politics.
