Indiana's State and Local Tax System Under Review this Summer to Identify Areas Needing Revised


The Indiana General Assembly formed a State and Local Tax (SALT) study committee to evaluate the Tax Code for opportunities to simplify it during the next legislative session. All tax assessments and tools are on the table, and changes to the tax code could impact businesses. Aspire is studying up on the code this summer so we are prepared to advocate for businesses, and our local communities.

IRS Tax Tip for Business Owners: The Employer-Provided Childcare Tax Credit is worth up to $150,000


Access to childcare affects the labor force participation, causing more recruitment and retention issues for employers. The Employer-Provided Childcare Tax Credit offers businesses up to $150,000 yearly to cover a portion of costs for childcare resources and for having a qualified childcare facility. To claim the credit, businesses must complete IRS Form 8882.

CORRECTION STATEMENT: In a previous version of this article, we misinterpreted an interview with John Sturm, CEO of JCREMC and incorrectly insinuated that rolling blackouts were a regular or frequent occurrence or that only JCREMC does these blackouts. We would like to clarify that JCREMC, along with every other utility provider in the region, will only implement rolling blackouts during rare, emergency situations under the direction of a regional transmission coordinator. In the unlikely event that rolling blackouts are necessary, the public would be notified through news channels.
