Happy National Ergonomics Month (NEM)! This is an opportunity for us all to promote the science and application of human factors and ergonomics. Have you participated in the NEM Social Media Challenge yet? If so, tell us about it! If not, jump on in! I’ve seen lots on LinkedIn that would qualify—I hope you’re submitting these! One thing that is encouraging is the number of sites external to HFES who have posts about NEM. | |
Celebrate National Ergonomics Month | NEM was established by HFES in 2003 and highlights the significance of ergonomics in enhancing human well-being and performance. Throughout October, HFES encourages professionals and the broader community to engage through presentations, educational activities and social media outreach. |
NEM Social Media Challenge
There's still time left to participate in the social media challenge. Five prizes ($25-$100 value) will be randomly drawn for participants.

Technical Group Highlight: Occupational Ergonomics Technical Group
In celebration of NEM, we want to shine a spotlight on the Occupational Ergonomics Technical Group (OETG). Dedicated to addressing key issues in occupational ergonomics, the OETG plays a crucial role in advancing human factors research, education and professional growth. Whether through hosting lecture sessions, discussion panels or webinars, OETG fosters collaboration among professionals and promotes the exchange of knowledge year round.
Be sure to explore their initiatives, including student travel awards, best paper presentations and symposia at HFES annual meetings, as we celebrate the importance of ergonomics this month!
