Join us in holding all Chaplains in prayer this week

A Prayer for Pastoral Care Week

from NACC Member, Amy Mickolite MA, BCC

Manager of Spiritual Care, Trinity Health of New England

Great Spirit,

Our Native American brothers and sisters and many others seek the spiritual gifts that Mother Earth has to offer.

They look to the North, South, West, and East for inspiration and guidance.

So too, much of our experiences and journeys, and the gifts they contain, come with an element of mystery.

The depth and breadth of what we can offer as chaplains is a mystery to many.

As chaplains, help us to seek a variety of resources that inform and mold us into well-rounded caregivers.

Loving and vibrant Spirit, lead us into a sacred space as we offer spiritual hospitality to another.

With thoughtful inquiry, an open mind, and a compassionate servant leader heart, allow us to be fully present to the Spirit for guidance.

May we provide meaningful companionship that includes careful listening, collaborative conversation, gentle guidance, and the offering of thoughtful resources.

At this point of the life journey, may our Chaplaincy care impart comfort, balance, and hope.

One touchpoint at a time, may we open the awareness and acceptance of spiritual care to those whom we care for.

May our actions be divinely inspired by the Spirit.

We ask this with humility and gratitude.

Over all the lands and seas, countries, communities, and health care facilities of all varieties, let us celebrate diversity and unity.

May the spark of the Spirit, alive in all things, connect us as One.

For this we are truly thankful.

Amen.

A Prayer for Pastoral Care Week

from the Catholic Health Association of the United States

God of all tenderness and compassion,

you call us to serve as your Son, Jesus, served,

with reverent love, joyfulness, and a deep sense of justice..

You are infinitely powerful and need nothing,

and yet in your wisdom and love you have entrusted to us

the continuing mission of your Christ in this broken, beloved world.

We pray today especially for those who serve as pastoral caregivers

at the heart of our healthcare ministry.

Lift them up and equip them with every gift of your Holy Spirit

that they need to bring your consolation and healing touch to all in need.

Set their hearts on fire with love for you,

that they may give freely of these gifts,

for your sake and the work of the Gospel.

Grant your healing blessing to us all,

patients, family members, and team members,

to the glory and praise of your Name.

Amen.
