Greetings From Mr. Estes... |
Dear SASEAS Families,
I hope you are all having a meaningful Advent season and are continuing to prepare for Christmas in some spiritually enriching way during the upcoming days. In addition to the activities that are happening in classrooms, our third and fourth students have been sharing the Jesse Tree story each morning during announcements, as well as leading us in prayer. It’s a wonderful way for our SASEAS school community to journey toward Christ’s birth each day together.
Last week I wrote about our Adopt A Family program and the events that occurred on Friday to financially support that program. Through the efforts of our faculty, staff, and students, and the generosity of our families, we raised three thousand six hundred dollars. This money will help provide support for six families and twenty three children in the Milford area identified through our local Saint Vincent DePaul Society. Our eighth grade students will be led by staff as they purchase, wrap, and deliver gifts to these families in time for Christmas. A special thank you to Mrs. Clayton, Mr. Grieco, and all the junior high faculty involved in leading this generous effort; this is another excellent example of living out our call to serve Christ through serving others.
Last Friday, with the help of our PTO and volunteers, our Pre-K through third grade students were able to come together for a special night with Santa. Families enjoyed an opportunity to participate in various activities as well as a chance to visit with Santa and make an in person request for their Christmas desires. Thanks to everyone who made this evening possible, especially Mrs. Stephanie Staab, Mrs. Sandy Reed, and Mr. Joe Irwin who played critical roles in the planning, preparation, and execution of the event
Following mass on Monday, our school community and guests, along with Fr Ed, celebrated our monthly character awards. The virtue being recognized was Studiousness and the saint for November was St Andrew, The Apostle. As one of our teachers wrote in an email to parents, “many of the saints we honor in our faith were great scholars who devoted themselves to increasing their knowledge to become closer to God”. As a Catholic school, this use of studiousness is an integral part of all that we do. Congratulations to Vivian Riley, Jack Ryan, Scarlett Anderson, Owen Hausman, Riley Hantak, Abigail Ryan, Trevor Ryan, Luka Denicola, Corinne Gray, and Ayden Sparks.
.
Although we are in the midst of the Advent Season, since next week is our final week in the building prior to our Christmas break we will be celebrating our annual Christmas Spirit Week. Please see the reminders section for a schedule of attire suggestions for the week.
Seek out your blessings and make it a great week!

There has been a tremendous response to our St. Vincent DePaul giving tree. I want to personally thank all of the families who have purchased items for our 5 families in need. You have helped to ensure that these children will have an awesome Christmas. Thank you so much! Reminder: Giving Tree gifts are due back in the Preschool office by Tuesday, December 17th.
Our three-year-old classes are getting ready for Christmas. Mrs. Sheila’s class is discovering the Nativity while making their Christmas gifts to their families and learning that “J is for Jesus”. Mrs. Christina’s classes are exploring the Nativity as well. They are making Nativity scenes in art, counting ornaments, and making candy cane patterns in math. In religion they are reading the Nativity story.
Our four-year-old classes are learning about the Chritmas Story and making watercolor Nativity scenes. They are working on a Christmas Tree counting book in Math and patterning with unifix cubes and red and white beads. They are making their Christmas gifts for their families and in religion they are reading the Nativity story.
The five-year-old class is learning about Christmas. They are identifying and cutting out shapes and using them to make Nativity scenes. They are very excited to have a Polar Express Day this week. They will wear Pajamas to school, have Polar Express themed activities, and a snack with hot chocolate. In religion they are discussing different ways that they can prepare for Christmas.

Preschool Giving Tree Directions
If you would like to help our five St. Vincent De Paul families this holiday season, please take a paper ornament off the tree and purchase the gift. Return the wrapped gift with the Giving Tree ornament TAPED to the gift. (The ornaments are color coded by family, so it is important it is taped to the gift.) Return all gifts to the preschool office no later than Tuesday, Dec 17th. We cannot accept any Christmas gifts after the Dec. 17th date because the gifts will be delivered to the families Thursday, December 19th.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!
Merry Christmas!
