Good evening Falcon families,
We had a great week here at Pedro Menendez. This week marked a week filled with focused learning and some great events for our community and students. Wednesday nigh we hosted the Second Annual Track or Treat. We had over 200 faculty and students at Veterans Stadium, setting up booths to allow the community to trick or treat in a safe, positive environment. We hosted well over 500 visitors, but the best part was seeing our students serving the future. We are incredibly proud of our students. Many of our athletic programs were involved in district tournaments and meets. Many have advanced on to Regionals and we wish the best for each one continuing on to represent Menendez. Lastly, Friday night capped off the regular season for football with a convincing win against Yulee and an opportunity for us to recognize our seniors for football, cheer, dance, band and cross country.
This week our theater department will be performing "The Crucible". They have done an incredible job and I encourage everyone to check out one of the performances Thursday, Friday or during the Saturday matinee.
SJCSD recently sent out the approved plan to make up lost instructional time due to the hurricanes. Please reference the email sent early last week. It is important to note that we will be migrating off early release Wednesdays starting next week, November 13th. This week is still an early release Wednesday. Furthermore, we will have school on Veterans' Day. We are working to make certain that this day highlights the contributions, service and sacrifice of our nation's great veterans. We have also relaunched our Veterans Commemorative Brick project at Veterans Stadium. This is a wonderful way to commemorate and recognize a friend or family member who is either currently serving or has served our nation. More information is below.
As we continue in the second quarter, it is important for students to continue their academic focus. A big part of this is being attentive in class and on time to each class. PMHS has implemented a couple of initiatives regarding cell phones and tardies to assist students in recognizing the importance of attendance and focus in class. We have continued to see students using cell phones during instructional time. Please remind your child that the cell phone policy is to aid them in academic achievement and is also now part of Florida Law.
We are seeing our students take the challenge of #RISEON3! very seriously and we are confident that the 25th year of Pedro Menendez High School will be its best! This week will be the first big opportunity for our 9th and 10th grade students show how they are rising to the challenge.
There are many details to review, so please take the time to review this communication in its entirety.

- Attitude (regardless of the situation, to exhibit an attitude of success and persistence)
This coming year these four tenets will serve as the foundation for Pedro Menendez High School.
- Communication
- Clarity of Standards/ Expectations
- Consistency
- Commitment
