November is Fall Prevention Month

As your body gets older, changes will occur. Feel confident that you can adapt to those changes and make your home safer. For example, remove rugs, mats, slippery tiles, and objects on the floor. Make sure there are non-slip surfaces on showers and bathtubs.

As we age, changes to vision will occur, but this does not have to lead to vision loss. Have your eyes checked and tested by an optometrist every year! Check out some great resources below: 1) How TO Lower Your Fall Risk (Government of Canada) 2) What To Do If You Fall (HPE Public Health)

HELP TODAY

By 2030, in just six years, 1 in 4 Canadians will be impacted in some way by dementia. It impacts everyone differently and touches the lives of everyone around them.

To meet this growing demand, your help is needed. Your donation goes directly to funding critical programs that provide care, education, and support to all people living with dementia and their care partners.

There’s no time to waste. This Giving Tuesday, join the fight to end dementia.

What is GivingTuesday? GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. Join the movement and give, whether it’s some of your time, a donation, or the power of your voice in your local community. It’s a simple idea: whether it’s making someone smile, helping a neighbor or stranger out, showing up for an issue or people we care about, or giving some of what we have to those who need our help, every act of generosity counts and everyone has something to contribute toward building the better world we all want to live in.

What better time to take control of you future and ensure your loved ones are protected than Make a Will Month.

Did you know that more than 62% of Canadians still don’t have a valid will? Without one, your family could face unnecessary stress, legal issues, and higher taxes. A will helps avoid these challenges, ensuring your estate and assets are handled according to your wishes. Contact us today for your free will & estate planning guide by e-mailing amelia.huffman@alzheimerhpe.ca. This guide is an ideal first step to creating a will, protecting what matters most, and giving your family peace of mind.

This past September, our friends at Wellington on the Lake held their 3rd annual Chili Fest in support of ASHPE. Staff were thrilled to accept this generous donation.

This event has raised $22,260 for your local Alzheimer Society since 2022, all of which stays 100% local in Hastings-Prince Edward and helps provide free supports and services for folks right here at home.

A huge THANK YOU to the WOLRA for all your hard work, and of course all who attended and supported this event.
