ATTENTION PARENTS & STUDENTS

Radix Metasystems is a neighboring business at 325 Inverness Drive South. It has come to our attention that several CEC parents and students are illegally parking in this company's private parking lot. PLEASE: DO NOT PARK IN THIS COMPANY'S PARKING LOT! If this problem persists, the company has been encouraged to call the police or tow cars for trespassing. Thank you for your cooperation and understanding.

Important Dates

January 20 - Martin Luther King, Jr. Day - NO SCHOOL

Inclement Winter Weather

During the Colorado winter, snow and ice are to be expected and it can be difficult to predict just how incoming weather will affect driving conditions. CEC DC North does its best to always make the most appropriate decision regarding school closures and late starts. On days when there is not a closure or delay, CEC respects the decision of our parents to keep their students home, if necessary. Please call or email the school's attendance lines for this to be an excused absence.

To report an absence, please email cecdcnattendance@coloraoearlycolleges.org

or call (720) 505-4010

Student ID Required to Enter Building

Student ID Required to Enter Building- Starting Next Semester

ATTENTION Students: You will see a change at the beginning of next semester as you come into our building. YOU WILL BE REQUIRED to use your ID to scan into the building. If you do not have your ID, you will be asked to step aside and we will help you get a temporary ID. Look in teams for upcoming messages regarding this issue.

Drop-off & Pick-up Reminders

Thank you again for your patience and understanding as we continue to work out a smooth and safe pick-up and drop-off process. Below are a couple reminders and tips to ensure that safe drop-off and pick-up takes place.

Reminders:

  • Please do not drop-off or pick-up your students on the streets surrounding DC North's Campus.
  • Ask your student to take the cross walks so that they safely cross the street if you are dropping them off at the park.
  • Do not park or wait for your student in any surrounding business parking lots. CEC has received numerous complaints about this and those businesses indicated that if it persists, they may call the sheriff's office for trespassing.
  • Use the left lane in the main driveway for through traffic and the right lane for drop-off and pick-up, pulling forward to the end of the island- where our "Pull Forward" sign is (see the pink dot on the map below)

We appreciate your support in ensuring that the drive line stays safe and that we are respectful neighbors.

Tips:

Park in CEC's student lot to wait for your student instead of waiting in the drive line. Please just be mindful of other cars and students in the parking lot. Park at John Derry Park at 312 Inverness Dr. S to drop-off or pick-up your student. They can then walk across the cross walk to get to campus.

Musical Donations

Music Ensemble Needs Your Help

One of the amazing programs that we offer here at CEC DC North is Music Ensemble, where our talented students get to rehearse and perform a variety of music. Yet not all students who are in Music Ensemble own an instrument- that's where our amazing CEC community comes in! We need any small instruments and/or music equipment donations in order to offer all students this wonderful opportunity. We are especially in need of guitars, amps and any small instruments; no pianos please!

Questions? Please contact ian.rollins@coloradoearlycolleges.org.

Course Schedules

Please note that there may be some course schedule changes in the next week. We appreciate your patience as we adjust enrollment in our classes. The purpose of these adjustments is to ensure that we maintain our course enrollments of 24 students and under, while also ensuring that classes are not so small as to negatively impact instruction and group dynamics in a course. Lastly, we also want to ensure that instructors have equity in terms of student numbers and course loads across their classes and across departments.

If you have specific concerns about course schedule changes, please reach out to your student's advisor. All scheduling changes must be completed by Friday, 1/17 at noon.

Questions? Please see your advisor.

Health Updates

The school nurse has started to send out letters of immunization/non-compliancy letters to parents of students that are either not up-to-date on their immunizations or those that need to fill out an exemption. Exemptions must be dated after 07/01/2024 and will expire on 06/30/2025. They must be filled out annually unless they are a medical exemption. If you need to fill out an exemption, it must be signed by a physician or you may opt to take the educational modules online and submit the certificate of exemption to the school nurse. The school nurse must submit compliance to the state on January 15th, 2025. Even if your student does not attend classes physically at Douglas County North, they still need to have their immunizations up-to-date or exempted. I appreciate your help in this matter and will provide the link for the exemption module here.
